The popular Android email app, Edison Mail, is receiving an update today that adds Price Alerts.
The new feature is designed to make it easier for Edison Mail users to get the best price on purchased products.
Edison Mail has also confirmed dark mode support will be available to Android users soon. The update bringing dark mode is due to arrive at the end of October.
Price Alerts in your mailbox
The new Price Alerts feature is only new in terms of Android as the feature went live for iOS users in June. However, it is designed to make sure users are aware of the best price on the products they’ve already purchased.
While this is an artificial intelligence-based feature, the way it works is fairly straightforward. Once a user buys a product (and receives email confirmation) the AI assistant monitors the price of that product. If the product goes on sale for less within the retailer’s price promise period, the AI assistant notifies the user of the price drop. This is in addition to also providing detailed information on how the user can go about getting the difference refunded. Here’s a look at how it works.
Of course, if you don’t want your purchases tracked and monitored like this, you don’t have to. Price Alerts is an optional feature that can be enabled or disabled at any time within the app.
Dark mode coming soon to Edison Mail
It’s probably not a surprise that dark mode is coming to the Edison Mail app. After all, dark mode is one of the en vogue Android features right now. A number of apps, including a bunch of Google apps, have recently been updated with dark mode support. In addition, system-wide dark mode was also one of the major features announced with the latest OS version, Android 10.
As is the case with Price Alerts, dark mode will also be a feature the user can turn on or off from within the app.
Edison Mail has not specified exactly when dark mode will land and simply says it will happen towards the end of October. Like the rollout of the Price Alerts feature, priority for dark mode has been reserved for iOS devices. Dark mode is rolling out on iOS today.
In the meantime, the company has offered up the teaser image (shown at the top of the article) which provides a sneak peak at how the Edison Mail app will look once dark mode is activated.
