Displays on the Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones will not only include 120Hz refresh rate, but also 240Hz touch sensitivity. This information comes from Max Weinbach, who already shared a ton of info on Samsung’s upcoming flagships.
The Galaxy S20 series will offer 240Hz touch sensitivity, same as the OnePlus 8 & 8 Pro
He also reconfirmed that you won’t get 120Hz support at WQHD+ resolution, which is unfortunate, but expected. In any case, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are also expected to include 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sensitivity, so it will be interesting to see those displays compared to what Samsung will include on the Galaxy S20 series.
Fun fact, Samsung is actually making displays for OnePlus, in case you were unaware. The Galaxy S20 series will also include IP68 certification, which is also something Max Weinbach confirmed.
The Galaxy S20 series will become official on February 11. The company is planning to introduce three devices at that time, the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.
The first two models will launch in both 4G and 5G variants, while the S20 Ultra will ship in a 5G flavor only. The device will become official in San Francisco, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung’s second foldable.
All three Galaxy S20 handsets will be made out of metal and glass. The Galaxy S20 and S20+ will feature aluminum + glass build, while the S20 Ultra will utilize stainless steel + glass build.
All three phones will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 64-bit octa-core processor. That goes for the vast majority of markets, at least, as India will probably get the Exynos 990 instead.
The S20 Ultra will be the only member of the family with a periscope camera
The Galaxy S20 Ultra will be the only S20-branded phone to include a periscope-style camera on the back. It will also be the S20 handset with the most curved displays, based on rumors.
Android 10 will come pre-installed on all Galaxy S20 smartphones, along with Samsung’s One Ui skin, of course. You can expect some new features to be thrown into the mix.
The Galaxy S20 series will launch prior to the MWC, along with Samsung’s second foldable. The Galaxy Z Flip info did surface a number of times thus far as well.
Based on that info, this will be a clamshell foldable, which will fold vertically. The device will utilize the UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) display, with a plastic layer on top of it. The phone will allegedly cost around $1,400.
As you can see, Samsung is planning to launch quite a few devices in February. On top of that, various other brands will introduce their offerings, including quite a few flagships. We’re in for a rather interesting month, that’s for sure.
