New gizmos at CES 2021 continue to roll in. BenjiLock by Hampton is a new deadbolt with a touchpad and fingerprint scanner from Hampton Products.
Hampton is the company behind brands such as Brinks, Mountain Security, Wright Products, and Universal Hardware. Having sales of over 1.5 billion door locks, padlocks, door hardware since 1990 they are a company that knows door security hardware quite well.
No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and you can still use a regular key
BenjiLock is suitable for both exterior and interior home doors according to Hampton. This product uses a new state-of-the-art fingerprint sensor to open the lock without relying on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
The Fingerprint Door Lock can be opened in three ways. By using its fingerprint sensor, by entering owner-programmed numeric codes on a secure digital keypad, and by a traditional metal key. The key takeaway here is that this solution does not need network availability or external power for access. In summary, the main feature of this door lock makes it suitable not only for homes and apartments but even more so for vacation rentals.
BenjiLock By Hampton Fingerprint Door Lock stores 10 fingerprints and 25 user codes. With these many codes, it should be easy to let most families unlock the door without a key. In addition, these codes and fingerprints can be set up once the deadbolt is installation is complete.
There is an illuminated capacitive touchscreen on the lock’s front face to enter the code. And for additional peace of mind, the lock features a clearing code. This clearing code randomizes the digits each time, eliminating the ability for someone to recognize the numeric pattern.
As far as sturdiness goes, the ANSI Grade 2, die-cast zinc deadbolt is pick-resistant, bump-resistant, and drill-resistant. And there are two surface finishes available – bronze and satin nickel. The lock uses four AA batteries for power which come in the retail box.
