Masonite International has taken advantage of the hype built up by CES 2022 to unveil a brand new smart home gadget called the M-Pwr Smart Door. Reportedly not yet widely available, the new gadget brings a lot more to the table than might be expected. Particularly from a company best known for designing, building, and shipping interior and exterior doors. It could offer a fresh take on what, exactly, a smart home can be going forward.

What is the Masonite M-Pwr Smart Door?

Summarily, the Masonite M-Pwr Smart Door is an unassuming exterior door for a home. But it ships with every smart home gadget category that might be installed near an exterior door, already built-in. And some of the best of those, in fact.

The door itself is comprised of fiberglass and comes complete with a welcome light just above. In the door itself, the company has built-in both a Ring Video Doorbell and a Yale smart lock. Empowered by Masonite software, M-Pwr Smart Door’s welcome light can be programmed. And it connects via WiFi for the doorbell and lock, enabling those components’ individual features.

The smart door is also directly powered by a “patent-pending” electrical system. Removing the need for battery power delivered to each individual component. If the power does go out, conversely, Masonite M-Pwr Smart Door has its own backup power supply. And that can, according to the company, keep all of the components functioning for up to 24 hours.

Where is this available?

As of this writing, there doesn’t appear to be any pricing details available for Masonite M-Pwr. It is also already available explicitly to home builders. Specifically, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Although the company does have plans to expand over the coming year. There are no details available as to whether or not homeowners will be provided the opportunity to purchase the door directly.
