Samsung has released the January 2022 Android security patch to the Galaxy S10 series. All three models — Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+ — are now receiving the latest security update in some European countries, including Germany. The update should be available in more regions over the next few days.

The January 2022 SMR (security maintenance release) for the Galaxy S10 series is rolling out with the firmware version G97xFXXUEGVA4. It brings fixes for over 60 vulnerabilities, Samsung confirmed earlier this month. The majority of them were found in Google’s version of the Android operating system. But there are fixes for a few Samsung-specific vulnerabilities as well.

This update doesn’t likely bring anything else apart from this month’s SMR though. The Galaxy S10 trio recently received the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update with tons of new features and enhancements. And that’s the last major update for them. Launched in early 2019 running Android 9 Pie, the phones have already received the promised three major Android OS updates to Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12.

While the 2019 Galaxy S series flagships from Samsung are unlikely to receive any more feature updates, they will continue to receive security updates until early next year. The frequency of those releases may decrease soon but as of now, new SMRs are coming monthly. We will let you know if things change in the coming months.

More Galaxy phones receive the January security update

Samsung began rolling out the January security update to its phones towards the end of December. The Galaxy A51 picked up the new SMR first. A bunch of other Galaxy phones has received the update since. These include the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy S21 FE, and a few lower-cost models. The Galaxy S10 series is now joining the party as well.

If you’re using any of the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10+ in Germany, the new update should be available for you anytime now if it hasn’t already. users in other regions can also look forward to it in the coming days. As always, you will receive a notification when the OTA (over the air) rollout hits your phone. Alternatively, you can navigate to SettingsSoftware update on your phone and tap on Download and install to manually check if an OTA update is available. If there is, you’ll be prompted to download it.
