The June 2022 Android security patch for Samsung‘s Galaxy S20 FE 5G in the US is now available widely. Both carrier-locked and unlocked variants of the phone are picking up the latest security update stateside. This update patches more than 70 vulnerabilities affecting Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Samsung accounts, and more. Some of these vulnerabilities affected all Android devices while some others were specific to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Samsung’s updated security bulletin labels a handful of them as critical issues.

If you’re using the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in the US, you should be getting the June update within a few days if you haven’t received it already. The update comes with firmware version G781USQS7FVE2 for the carrier-locked variants and G781U1UES7EVF1 for the unlocked ones. Apart from this month’s security fixes, the devices are unlikely to be picking up anything else. The changelog mentions nothing else nor does the build number for the new firmware suggest any add-ons.

As always, the June SMR (Security maintenance Release) for your Galaxy S20 FE 5G will roll out as an over-the-air (OTA) update. You probably already know the drill when it comes to installing the new firmware. You don’t need to do much on your end. Once the OTA package is available for your unit, you will be notified of it. Tap on the notification and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.

Alternatively, you can head over to the Software update section in the Settings app and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually. If there’s no update available, repeat the steps a few days later or wait for the notification.

Samsung could soon release the July security update

We are now entering the last week of June and it’s about time Samsung releases the July SMR. Yes, there are still a few more days left in June but the Korean firm has made it a habit of rolling out a new security patch ahead of time, and before everyone else. The June SMR came well over a week before we entered the new month.

As usual, the rollout will begin slowly before Samsung picks up the pace. Flagship models will get the first priority but the company doesn’t keep its Galaxy A series mid-rangers waiting for new security updates much long either. We will let you know when the July SMR starts rolling out to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
