Fitbit features require Google login on the Pixel Watch 2

Fitbit now requires its users to complete their Google account login before they can access certain features. This is the case with using Fitbit features on the new Pixel Watch 2 and the Fitbit Charge 6. A few years ago, the smartwatch manufacturing and fitness company announced that users would require a Google account login to keep using certain features.

This is a result of the fact that Google purchased Fitbit and has been absorbing it into the ecosystem. Since this acquisition back in 2019, Fitbit has been trying to get its users to complete their Google account login in place of their Fitbit account login. This migration process has already begun taking full effect, as users are now getting prompts to link their Google account with their old Fitbit account.

Failure to do this will mean that users will not be able to access some Fitbit features from their smartwatches. Now users of the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6 must perform this account migration if they want to keep getting these features. If you own any of these smartwatches or any Fitbit or Google Pixel smartwatch, you will also need to migrate as soon as possible.

Safeguard your favorite Fitbit features by migrating to your Google account on the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6

Initially, when Fitbit announced this account migration, they gave users up until 2025. Failure to perform this migration before 2025 means that users will lose their account data. Well, this doesn’t hold any water when it comes to newer Fitbit-integrated devices.

The likes of the Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6 are not part of the devices that have until 2025 to perform the account migration. This time frame only applies to Fitbit-integrated devices that launched before 2023. As for the 2023 devices, before users will be able to access Fitbit features they’ll need to migrate their accounts.

To do this they need to link their Google account to their Fitbit account at once. With this linkage, the absorption of these Fitbit features into the Google ecosystem will be faster.

Users of the new Pixel Watch 2 and Fitbit Charge 6 that fail to perform the account migration won’t get Fitbit features. These features include everything available on the Fitbit app, workout, or health related. The migration process is done directly from the Fitbit app on the user’s smartphone.

Fitbit expects users to employ the “Move account” feature under the user profile page. From here, they can follow the instructions and migrate over from their Fitbit account to their Google account. Older Google Pixel and Fitbit smartwatch users might still have up until 2025 to migrate, but it’s safe to do so now.
