Now that the Activision Blizzard deal has been approved, everyone is waiting on games from the two companies to hit Xbox Game Pass. Understandably so. Because there are some really fun games from Activision and from Blizzard, and Game Pass is one of the best deals in gaming.

So naturally those who subscribe are eager and excited to get access to those games. But there’s bad news. You won’t see those games beginning to drop until sometime next year. Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed the details in the most recent Official Xbox Podcast. During the show, Spencer said that Activision put out a tweet mentioning a 2024 timeframe. “I think the Activision Twitter handle… did put out something that talked about 2024, and I think that’s accurate.”

Spencer also mentions that the Xbox teams are just now starting to work with Activision Blizzard on bringing some of the games over to the service. But there is actual real work to be done. And the acquisition approval took so long they haven’t been able to start that work until now.

Activision Blizzard games on Game Pass could include Modern Warfare III

Truth be told there’s no confirmation that Modern Warfare III will even hit Game Pass at all. But it would be surprising if it didn’t. Back on October 9 just prior to the acquisitio0n closing, Activision said in a tweet that it has no plans right now to bring Modern Warfare III or Diablo IV to Xbox Game Pass.

It did however state that it will begin to work with the Xbox team to bring games over after the deal closes. The deal has now closed. And Spencer himself has confirmed that work has begun. So now all there is left to do is wait. Which games will Microsoft start with? It’s tough to say. But it’s not unlikely that it will have a handful of titles ready to go.
