Colin Farrell and his prosthetic face are back for new The Penguin teaser
Oz Cobb returns to Gotham's underbelly this fall on Max
People online have spent the past few days discoursing about fillers and injectables on Love Island, when they really should have been reaming out whoever did Colin Farrell’s prosthetics for Max’s The Penguin. The man’s face is so botched he turned to a life of crime and terrorized an entire metropolis, for goodness sake! Where’s the anger at his surgeon?
Okay, sure—bad surgery isn’t exactly the reason Farrell’s Oz Cobb took over Gotham’s underworld, but he truly does have a face only a mother could love. Max released their second teaser for the upcoming The Batman spinoff today, giving us a little more insight into what happens outside of the purview of the Caped Crusader.
The Penguin opens in a flooded city, following the events of Matt Reeves’ 2022 film, which starred Robert Pattinson in the titular role. Oz Cobb has claimed the operations of Gotham’s underbelly following the death of his former boss, Carmine Falcone (John Turturro in the film), but finds a formidable rival in Falcone’s daughter, Sofia (Cristin Milioti), who challenges him for control.
We see a lot more of Sofia in this teaser, and learn a little more about her motivations. “I refuse to let these old men push me aside again,” Milioti delivers in a semi-convincing New York accent. “So I’m gonna take from them now.”
The Batman director Matt Reeves serves as an executive producer on the show, with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Lauren LeFranc stepping in as showrunner. In addition to Farrell and Milioti, Michael Zegen, Clancy Brown, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, and David H. Holmes also star. No official premiere date has been set as of this writing, but The Penguin is set to debut on Max sometime this fall.
