There was no easy way to say it, so Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel just let it fly as he put Kim Min-jae on blast for playing a role on both of Real Madrid’s goals.
“He was too ‘greedy’ twice. He made the first move too early against Vinicius in the first goal and got caught by Toni Kroos’ pass. He speculated and was too aggressive. In the second goal, unfortunately it was another mistake. We were five against two, we had the numbers. There was no need to defend that aggressively against Rodrygo,” Tuchel said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “The moment Eric was about to help, he [Kim] brought him [Rodrygo] down. Unfortunately with their quality, these mistakes get punished. But well, it happens. We have to move on.”
Min-jae was filling in for Matthijs de Ligt, who was injured on Saturday against Eintracht Frankfurt. Incidentally, if it was not for Dayot Upamecano’s second half gaffes, Min-Jae might not have even gotten the call.
The South Korean is down on his luck these days, but there is always a chance to turn things around in football. For Min-jae’s sake, hopefully he gets a chance to do just that.
