Abigail Breslin Said She Received Death Threats For Calling Out Katy Perry

"So I made a post condemning abusers and supporting an artist I love... and apparently that means receiving death threats... cool," Abigail posted.

Warning: Discussion of rape and abuse.

Oscar-nominated actor Abigail Breslin called out Katy Perry for her new work with Dr. Luke.

The Little Miss Sunshine and Scream Queens actor has previously shared about having been sexually assaulted and abused by an ex-partner, leading her to be outspoken on the topic of domestic and sexual violence.

Meanwhile, Katy's upcoming song "Woman's World" has sparked backlash due to the involvement of producer Lukasz Gottwald — aka "Dr. Luke." This is the same man who has been accused of drugging, raping, and abusing Kesha, starting almost a decade of lawsuits that have since been settled (Dr. Luke has denied the allegations).

On X, Abigail tweeted last night about how "working with a known abuser in any industry just contributes to the narrative that men can do abhorrent shit and get away with it. On another note, I love @KeshaRose." Naturally, people quickly assumed she was discussing the Katy/Dr. Luke situation.

I'm just saying... working with known abusers in any industry just contributes to the narrative that men can do abhorrent shit and get away with it. On another note, I love @KeshaRose and she gave one of the best shows ive ever been to last year <3 stream Kesha!

Some Katy Perry fans subsequently found the post and began leaving negative comments, accusing her of unfairly targeting Katy or only posting to further her own career. Abigail continued, "I didn't say anything awful, everyone calm down. I said I dont support abusers. crucify me. and I also never said I have an amazing music career. God... calm down."

omggggg guys really...? I didn't say anything awful, everyone calm down. I said I dont support abusers. crucify me. and I also never said I have an amazing music career. God... calm down.

Echoed in this were relentless attacks on Abigail's work, leading her to remind people that she was indeed nominated for an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine:

Abigail was also met with straightforward verbal abuse:

A tweet from Abigail Breslin reads, "charming <3" above a harsh tweet from pearl with insults and a caution to stay away from Katy

That ultimately led to death threats, according to a subsequent post by Abigail:

so I made a post condemning abusers and supporting an artist I love... and apparently that means receiving death threats... cool.

Disgusting. Well, Kesha's new song "Joyride" is out now.
