Upcoming A24 Movies: Sing Sing, Talk 2 Me, And More

Anytime I go to see a new A24 movie and see that famous logo appear on the screen, I immediately get a rush of excitement. I do not think I could ever name what my favorite movie production/distribution company was before I started seeing the many great movies from A24. Established in 2012, the company has since made many daring and inventive instant classics of various genres, two Best Picture Oscar winners, and several great TV shows with multiple Emmy wins to show for it. 

The many accolades and nearly unparalleled esteem it has achieved have helped it evolve into something more than just a popular and reliable entertainment source, but a unique brand of its own with the power to excite audiences just by flashing its logo on the big screen. If that logo alone is enough to pique your interest in what the company has in store next, take a look at this guide to the upcoming A24 movies (as confirmed by the company’s official site and elsewhere), what they are about, and when you can see them.

The Front Room (September 6, 2024)

After first bringing Nosferatu remake helmer Robert Eggers’ unique vision to the big screen with The Witch and The Lighthouse, A24 is giving his younger siblings, Max and Sam, a shot with their own directorial debut, The Front Room. Based on the short story by Susan Hill, the psychological horror film stars singer Brandy Norwood as a pregnant woman facing off against the mother-in-law from hell (played by Kathryn Hunter) after she and her husband (played by Andrew Burnap) reluctantly take her in.

Look Into My Eyes (2024)

Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Lana Wilson’s latest project takes on the fascinating, but widely scrutinized, world of ESP. Look Into My Eyes explores the relationships between a group of psychics from New York and their clients who are desperate for answers. 

A Different Man (September 20, 2024)

The Zone of Interest helmer Jonathan Glazer’s alien invasion movie, Under the Skin, featured a memorable appearance by Adam Pearson, an actor with neurofibromatosis, in his debut role. His second A24 film and second collaboration with writer and director Adam Schimberg, A Different Man, stars Pearson as an actor cast in a play based on the life of a man (played by MCU’s Winter Soldier actor, Sebastian Stan) who recently received facial reconstruction surgery.

We Live In Time (October 11, 2024)

Midsommar’s Florence Pugh and Under the Silver Lake’s Andrew Garfield are playing the co-leads of an upcoming romance called We Live in Time. According to Deadline, A24 acquired the rights to Intermission director John Crowley and The Sense of an Ending screenwriter Nick Payne’s film in May 2023 as it was being filmed in London.

Heretic (November 15, 2024)

Scott Beck and Bryan Woods – the duo best known for penning the first draft of A Quiet Place – are making their A24 debuts as the writers and directors of Heretic. Hugh Grant, The Fabelmans’ Chloe East, and The Boogeyman’s Sophie Thatcher star in the horror film about two missionaries embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Y2K (December 6, 2024)

Former SNL star Kyle Mooney is making his directorial debut with Y2K, which follows the life-changing, dangerous adventure of a group of teens on New Years Eve 1999. Announced in March 2023, the disaster comedy boasts a star-studded cast including Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, and Julian Dennison.

Babygirl (December 20, 2024)

In 2022, Dutch filmmaker Halina Reijn made her English-language debut with the A24 hit, Bodies Bodies Bodies. She is reuniting with the company for an erotic thriller called Babygirl, starring Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman and The Iron Claw star Harris Dickinson.

Architecton (2024)

As noted in Deadline’s review of Architecton, the title is defined as “master builder,” in reference to the literal building blocks from which our society originated. The documentary from director Victor Kossakovsky  premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, but does not have an American theatrical release date yet.

On Becoming A Guinea Fowl (2024)

The sophomore feature of writer and director Rungano Nyoni -- previously known for 2017's I am Not a Witch -- follows a middle-class Zambian family brought back together for the funeral of a relative. On Becoming a Guinea Fowl premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews.

Parthenope (2024)

Academy Award-winning Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino makes his A24 debut with Parthenope. The romantic drama follows the title character's search for satisfaction and admiration for her hometown of Naples.

Bring Her Back (2025)

In addition to their upcoming Talk to Me sequel (more on that later), Danny & Michael Philippou have another horror movie in development for A24 called Bring Her Back, which they previously mentioned as the project they would love to work on after their 2023 breakthrough hit. Nothing about the plot has been revealed but, according to Deadline, Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins will lead the film, which wrapped shooting in the summer of 2024 and set to come out next year.  

Altar (TBD)

Egor Abramenko, the Russian director of the 2020 sci-fi/horror flick, Sputnik, is helming Altar, which will star Lily Collias, Hudson Behling, January Jones, David Krumholtz, and Kyle MacLachlan. According to an exclusive by Variety, the thriller is based on short story about a young boy "forced to grow up" suddenly during one summer.

Backrooms (TBD)

Based on a mysterious Creepypasta, Backrooms is an animated, found footage-style YouTube series that explores an alternate dimension made up of a seemingly infinite maze of dingy hallways where bizarre and dangerous phenomena lurk. In early 2023, it was announced that the viral sensation's teenage creator, Kane Parsons, has partnered with A24 to develop a big screen feature adaptation that he will also direct.

Checkmate (TBD)

Following the success of their Showtime series, The Curse, Emma Stone and Nathan Fielder are reteaming with A24 to produce Checkmate, as Variety reports. Based on a book proposal by Ben Mezrich – whose work inspired acclaimed biopics The Social Network and Dumb Money – the film will focus on a monumental cheating scandal revolving around a 2022 chess match between Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann.

Death Of A Unicorn (TBD)

Marvel movie star Paul Rudd and Wednesday cast lead Jenna Ortega are making their A24 debuts together as a father and daughter who accidentally hit a mythical creature in Death of a Unicorn. Ari Aster produces the fantasy film from writer and director Alex Scharfmann that, according to Variety, was cleared to commence its Hungary production in July 2023 amid the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, since A24 is not AMPTP affiliated.

The Death Of Robin Hood (TBD)

Apparently, we have not seen the last of the legendary thieving archer on the big screen, as A24 has landed the rights to The Death of Robin Hood. According to Deadline, A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski is helming the film, which is set to star Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.

Death Stranding (TBD)

Soon, A24 will give its first video game adaptation a go. The studio has teamed with Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions to develop a film based on Death Stranding — an award-winning 2019 game set in a post-apocalyptic United States and starring Norman Reedus.

Eddington (TBD)

One of the most esteemed artists associated with the A24 brand is Ari Aster – the creator of such twisted films as Hereditary and Midsommar. The filmmaker is seemingly going in a  different direction with his fourth feature, Eddington – a darkly comic, contemporary Western that reunites him with his Beau is Afraid star Joaquin Phoenix and sees him work with stars like Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler for the first time.

The Entertainment System Is Down (TBD)

Writer and director Ruben Östlund’s follow-up to the Oscar-nominated Triangle of Sadness is yet another star-studded social commentary. According to Deadline, Kirsten Dunst and Keanu Reeves are among those set to star in The Entertainment System is Down as a group of international air travelers who must contend with their boredom when all means of entertainment on their plane suddenly fail.

Eternity (TBD)

Imagine being forced by law to choose the one person you want to spend an unending amount of time with. As reported by Deadline, that is the premise of an aptly titled rom-com called Eternity, which Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, and Callum Turner are in talks to star in. David Freyne is directing the film which A24 will distribute in partnership with production company Star Thrower Entertainment.

Famous (TBD)

Following his acclaimed performance in The Iron Claw, Zac Efron is reuniting with A24 for an adaptation of Blake Crouch's bestselling novel, Famous. According to Deadline, the actor will play dual roles — both a Hollywood star and his obsessed fan — in the thriller from director Jody Hill, who is known for his collaborations with Danny McBride.

The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store (TBD)

Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg is teaming up with A24 for the first time with The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store. The Academy Award-winning filmmaker is producing this adaptation of James McBride’s novel, which chronicles the relationship between the Black and Jewish residents of a small neighborhood in 1920s-1930s Philadelphia.

High And Low (TBD)

Co-writer and director Spike Lee is reuniting with his frequent collaborator, two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, for their fifth collaboration and first since 2006's Inside Man — another crime thriller called High and Low. A24 will theatrically distribute the English-language adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 film about a kidnapping that puts a shoe company executive in hot water, which will later be exclusively available to stream on Apple TV+.

Huntington (TBD)

Following his scene-stealing performance in the Top Gun: Maverick cast and lead roles in Anyone But You, Hit Man, and others, Glen Powell is quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most favorable leading men, so it was inevitable that an A24 movie might be in his future. His debut with the company will be a thriller called Huntington, in which he plays a wealthy heir hellbent on achieving what he believes he deserves.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (TBD)

More than a decade after making her feature-length directorial debut with 2008’s Yeast, starring Greta Gerwig, actor and filmmaker Mary Bronstein is finally coming out with her sophomore effort with If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. According to Ion Cinema, the A24-distributed drama will follow a Long Island therapist with many issues of her own, including with her child’s sickness, her husband’s absence, and her ruined home.

The Legend Of Ochi (TBD)

German actor Helena Zengel – who made her English language debut in 2020’s News of the World – will star in the fantasy epic, The Legend of Ochi, as a girl who becomes acquainted with a mysterious type of creature after running away from home. Willem Dafoe – whose best movies include two A24 titles, The Florida Project and The Lighthouse – also stars in writer and director Isaiah Saxon’s debut, along with Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard and Emily Watson.

The Looming (TBD)

Filmmaker Masha Ko’s 14-minute film, The Looming – which follows an elderly man haunted by a sinister presence – debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2024. She is collaborating with A24 and Ari Asters’s Square Peg on a feature-length adaptation of the horror short. 

Marty Supreme (TBD)

Josh Safdie's first solo collaboration with A24 is sports biopic with Timothée Chalamet called Marty Supreme. As first broke by Variety, Chalamet is also producing the film based on the life and career of professional ping pong player Marty Reisman.

Materialists (TBD)

After earning raves and a Best Screenplay Oscar nomination for her debut feature, Past Lives, Celine Song is reteaming with A24 to write and direct the upcoming rom-com, Materialists. Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal, and Chris Evans star in the film about a New York matchmaker who forms a connection with a rich potential suitor.

Mother Mary (TBD)

Following his inventive take on hauntings with 2017’s A Ghost Story and dazzling reimagining of a classic medieval poem with 2021’s The Green Knight, David Lowery is reteaming with A24 for Mother Mary – the story of a friendship between a musician and a fashion designer. The film – which stars Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, and Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer – was shot in Germany in July 2023, according to IndieWire.

Onslaught (TBD)

Adam Wingard -- director of horror films like You're Next and 2024 monster movie hit, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire -- is directing Onslaught for A24. Plot details about the action thriller are unknown for now, but Deadline reports that the camera is set to start rolling this fall.

Opus (TBD)

Writer and director Mark Anthony-Green is likely going to make a huge impression with his A24-produced debut feature, Opus. According to Deadline, the horror movie – about a long-missing pop star’s mysterious return – boasts a star-studded cast that includes Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, Amber Midthunder, and more.

The Smashing Machine (TBD)

Amid the many conventional blockbusters on Dwayne Johnson's upcoming movies schedule, the pro-wrestler-turned-actor is taking on what may be his darkest and most challenging role yet. The Rock is leading The Smashing Machine – Benny Safdie's solo directorial debut – as troubled MMA legend Mark Kerr, alongside his Jungle Cruise co-star, Emily Blunt, as his wife.

Talk 2 Me (TBD)

Following the success of Talk to Me – which some are calling one of the scariest movies in years – it is not so surprising that thrillseekers have another A24 horror movie franchise to look forward to. Just days after the acclaimed Australian shocker released, the company greenlit a follow-up called Talk 2 Me, which directorial duo Danny and Michael Philippou will helm, from a screenplay by Danny and Bill Hinzman.

Warfare (TBD)

Before the release of Alex Garland's Civil War, A24 announced that the filmmaker has another war movie in the works that he is co-writing and co-directing with Ray Mendoza, who worked as the military supervisor for said post-apocalyptic drama. Joseph Quinn of Stranger Things fame stars alongside May December's Charles Melton, Kit Connor from Heartstopper, Shogun's Cosmo Jarvis, Finn Bennett from True Detective: Night Country, and A24 vet Will Poulter in the film, which is officially titled Warfare.

Why Don’t You Love Me?

After playing in role in Hollywood's Multiverse movies trend with Everything Everywhere All At Once, it appears that A24 is keeping it alive with its adaptation of Paul B. Rainey graphic novel, Why Don't You Love Me? According to THR, Jennifer Lawrence will lead and produce the sci-fi comedy about a miserable couple who discover that their assumed reality is not really what it seems.

The Wives

Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence has a couple of A24 projects in the works, including The Wives, which she is set to star in and produce for Apple Studios. A24 will co-produce the film, which -- according to Deadline -- is described as a Real Housewives-inspired murder mystery.

Wizards! (TBD)

Even before he was seen starring in one of the best horror movies of 2022, Bodies Bodies Bodies, former SNL star Pete Davidson was already set to reunite with A24 for another thriller called Wizards! In June 2022, Deadline reported that Orlando Bloom had joined the cast of the film – written and directed by David Michôd from a story by him and Joel Edgerton – in which Davidson and Franz Rogowski play stoners who stumble upon loot that puts their lives at risk.

Untitled Elon Musk Biopic

Trailblazing, controversial industrialist Elon Musk -- who has had his fair share of movie and TV appearances alreay -- will be the subject of a biopic in development at A24. Variety reports that Darren Aronofsky is set to direct the film, which will take inspiration from Walter Isaacson's 2023 biography about the SpaceX founder.

Untitled Haenyeo Documentary (TBD)

A community of senior, free-diving fisherwomen, referred to in South Korea as “haenyeo,” is the subject of a documentary from Peabody Award-nominated director, Sue Kim. Variety exclusively revealed in September 2022 that Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist Malala Yousafzai’s production company, Extracurricular, is partnering with A24 and Apple to produce the film, which has yet to receive an official title.

Untitled Trey Edward Schults Movie (TBD)

The mind behind some of the most refreshingly subversive films in A24’s catalog (2015’s Krisha, 2017’s slow burn horror masterpiece It Comes at Night, and the 2019 family tragedy Waves) is returning for his fourth feature with the company. According to IndieWire, Trey Edward Schults’ next, untitled project is set to star Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye.
