Play Overview
Killer Bean is a tongue-in-cheek action game where you play a bean out for revenge on a mysterious international syndicate. You drive, jet-ski, run, and shoot bean enemies while pulling off over-the-top stunts. It stands out not only as an amusing action film parody but also for the way the story is different every time you play.
From the same creator as the cult classic film Killer Bean Forever, you take control of the eponymous protagonist as he embarks on a globe-trotting quest to take down the agency that made him a killer. Play involves traversing stages by car, jet-ski, and foot, and using a variety of guns to defeat your foes. In keeping with its action film inspiration, you can dive through the air in slow-motion, catch and deflect grenades, and pull off many other similarly ridiculous, physics-defying stunts.
As you play, you can improve your combat and traversal abilities. Across the many set-piece locations and moments, you meet different characters, some who become allies, others enemies. Once you finish your quest, you can start the campaign again, and every time, the entire story changes - characters who were friends may now be against you, your missions may take you to new locations, and events may happen differently or in completely different orders.
The result is a game that, while over-the-top and full of loving jabs at the action genre, still creates an engaging and entertaining experience through show-stopping spectacle and physics-defying combat. This is combined with a story that changes from one run to the next to make a surprisingly complete package that belies its comical premise.
