Play OverviewPlay Overview

Snipperclips (2017) is a game where you play a piece of paper that can be cut into different shapes. Through a series of puzzle levels, you adjust your shape by clipping and overlapping other players. Sometimes this is to match a shape, others, it is to catch a ball or achieve other interactions.

Each player uses one half of the Joy-Con pair to move and snip, tilting the controller to orient their character. It’s simple and intuitive and a lot of fun, even just messing around snipping and jumping around each other.

The twist is the cooperative element of the game. You must work with up to four other players to snip and clip each other into the right shape and then collaborate with the puzzle interactions. This can result in some intricate communication and teamwork, or deteriorate into a snipping contest. Either way, it's a lot of fun and very funny.

Snipperclips Plus: Cut it out, together! is an updated version of the game that adds more levels and challenges. These are also available to download in the original game.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Snipperclips 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Thom Robertson and updated 10 weeks ago.

Skill Level

7+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. One family told us, "I play it with my 7-tear-old sister. It's a great two-player game with lots of problem-solving. We often just spent time giggling and taking big chunks out of each other's character. Sometimes we ignore the challenges and just snipped each other instead. The controls could be tricky but you can always regenerate and try again, great for building patience."
