Xiaomi has stepped into the electric vehicle (EV) market with its debut electric car, the SU7, introduced following last year’s announcement. Unveiled in China today, the SU7 is designed to rival established competitors like Tesla.
Offered in four variants – SU7, SU7 Pro, SU7 Max, and a limited Founder’s Edition. It features a sleek four-door sedan design with dimensions of 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and up to 1,455 mm in height. It rides on 19-inch Michelin alloy wheels as standard across all variants.
Xiaomi showcased the SU7’s performance capabilities at the launch event. The top-end Max variant can reach a top speed of 265 kmph, accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 2.78 seconds, and offer a range of up to 810KM on a single charge.
The limited Founders Edition, with a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive powertrain, delivers nearly 986 bhp of power and accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 1.98 seconds.
Partnering with CATL, Xiaomi offers two battery options: a 73.6 kWh pack for entry-level variants and a larger 101 kWh pack for the top model. These batteries provide at least 700 kms of range on a single charge. Additionally, a larger 150 kWh battery pack is planned for next year, promising a range of 1,200 km.
The SU7 supports ultra-fast charging with innovative 486V and 871V architectures. With just 15 minutes of charging, the EV can cover 350 kms and 510 kms respectively. It also supports Apple CarPlay and iPad connectivity.
Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) include Xiaomi Pilot Pro and Xiaomi Pilot Max. The City NOA pilot-assisted driving feature will begin testing in April and be available in 10 cities by May, expanding nationwide soon after.
Pricing and availability
The Xiaomi SU7 comes in three variants, with prices starting as follows:
- SU7 Standard: 215,900 yuan (USD 29,869 or Rs. 25,34,525 approx.).
- SU7 Pro: 245,900 yuan (USD 34,020 or Rs. 28,86,710 approx.).
- SU7 Max: 299,900 yuan (USD 40490 or Rs. 35,20,634 approx.).
Available in 4 major color series with 9 colors, including Gulf Blue, Lava Orange, and Pearl White. These are available to order. Deliveries for Xiaomi SU7 / Xiaomi SU7 Max is expected by the end of April, and Xiaomi SU7 Pro is expected to be delivered at the end of May.
There are offers for early bookings until April 30th to enjoy car purchase privileges worth 22,000 yuan.
