Reliance Jio has launched a new tracking device called the JioTag Air, the successor to last year’s JioTag. Unlike its predecessor, which worked only with the JioThings app, JioTag Air is now compatible with Apple’s Find My network.
The JioTag Air has a sleek and compact design that helps users find and track valuables like keys, ID cards, wallets, purses, luggage, pets, and other frequently misplaced items. It works with both iOS and Android devices and is equipped with Bluetooth version 5.3 for wireless tracking.
The device has a built-in speaker that plays a loud sound of 90-120 dB to help locate lost items. Users can choose to pair it with either the Apple Find My network or the JioThings app, but not both simultaneously. The JioTag Air offers up to two years of battery life and comes with an extra battery and lanyard cable in the box.
For Android users, pairing with the JioThings app allows tracking of tagged items directly through the app. Apple users can pair the JioTag Air with the Apple Find My app, which sends continuous Bluetooth signals detectable by nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs. These devices then send the JioTag Air’s location to iCloud.
Apple users can share tagged items on the Find My app with other Apple users. The Lost Mode feature sends automatic notifications to the paired Apple device when the lost item is detected in the Apple Find My network.
The JioTag Air is compatible with iPhones running iOS 14 and above and Android devices running Android 9 and above.
