Rings Of Power Season 2 Is What We Wanted the First Time Around
Those who stuck with The Rings of Power Season 1 know that the series used all of its eight episodes to lay the foundation for the entire story. Admittedly, it resulted in a season with some really weird pacing, but by the time the season ended, it was obvious that the story was barely at its beginning.
Well, it seems that won’t be the case with The Rings of Power Season 2, as the new featurette shows plenty of action taking place in the upcoming season, thus giving off an entirely different vibe compared to the first one.
Prime Video just dropped another look into Season 2 of the series, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride…
The Rings of Power Season 2 trailer dropped just recently, and it was pretty obvious that it will focus on Sauron’s rise to power and his creation of the One Ring—considering that the three elven rings were already created by the end of Season 1.
Prime Video just dropped another look into Season 2 of the series, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride, with lots of stunt work, lots of action, and lots of orc barbeque—we’re referring to orcs being set on fire—signaling that this is the season we should have got the first time around.
Season 1 ended up akin to setting the pieces on the board before the match could begin in The Rings of Power Season 2.
We’re not saying that The Rings of Power Season 1 was bad; quite the contrary. However, it did polarize the fanbase, with one side loving the show and acknowledging it as a slow-burner setup for what’s to come and the other side disliking the series.
And to be honest, there was plenty of stuff to dislike, as well, since the series took some creative liberties and casting choices, particularly the depictions of Galadriel as a more warrior-like figure. Despite that, Season 1 ended up akin to setting the pieces on the board before the match could begin in The Rings of Power Season 2.
That’s precisely what happens. We got to see Sauron as Annatar, the Lord of Gifts, which we didn’t have the chance to see in either The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit movies—though he was a central figure in Middle-earth: Shadow of War video game.

Furthermore, we see him appearing before Celebrimbor and Elves of Eregion in his Elven guise. According to Tolkien’s legendarium, Sauron used his Annatar guise to trick the Elves into creating the Rings of Power. It’s entirely possible that we’ll also get to see that in The Rings of Power Season 2.
The new featurette also shows Elrond taking Elven troops into battle, both Durin and his father Durin (yes, both are named Durin), picking up axes ready for battle (probably against the Durin’s Bane), Adar assembling Orcs, and Orcs catching fire. It also shows The Stranger and Nori Brandyfoot.
The Rings of Power Season 2 is scheduled to stream on Prime Video on August 29, when we’ll find out whether the long road there and back again (pun intended) was really worth the patience invested by the franchise’s long-time fans.
