The Sydney Sweeney Erotic Thriller On Streaming That Will Glue You To The Screen
Ever since bursting onto the Hollywood scene with her roles in Euphoria and The Handmaid’s Tale, Sydney Sweeney has had a hot streak of major movie and TV projects. One project you may have missed from Sweeney in recent years is the erotic thriller The Voyeurs, which came out in 2021. If you missed out on this one, you can stream it right now on Amazon Prime Video.
The Voyeurs, starring Sydney Sweeney, is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Sydney Sweeney stars alongside Justice Smith in The Voyeurs as a young couple who move into an apartment together and start becoming obsessed with spying on their neighbors, played by Ben Hardy and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. The rest of the cast is rounded out by Katharine King, Cameo Adele, and Jean Yoon.
The film was written and directed by Michael Mohan and ended up being a bit of an unexpected hit for Amazon Prime, no doubt partly because of Sweeney’s rise to superstardom in recent years.
If you’re a fan of voyeuristic thrillers like Rear Window, then this Sydney Sweeney-led film might be right up your alley. However, critics and audiences gave the film fairly mixed reviews, so don’t expect The Voyeurs to be quite to the level of filmmaking achieved in one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most well-regarded masterpieces.
Still, the film is obviously going to get these comparisons, and the performances and the taut nature of the film will likely keep you entertained regardless of your expectations going into it.
While Sydney Sweeney may be best known for her Emmy-worthy TV performances in shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus, her career as a lead in feature films is just now starting to take off.
Still, as mentioned, The Voyeurs ended up being a bit of a streaming hit for Amazon Prime Video, so there are certainly plenty of people who enjoyed the thriller ride. Of course, it would have been easy for people to miss this Sydney Sweeney project in 2021 in favor of her other major 2021 project, The White Lotus.
The White Lotus took the entertainment news cycle by storm for a few months that year, and the star-studded cast and salacious storylines ended up getting a lot more attention than The Voyeurs was able to drum up.
While Sydney Sweeney may be best known for her Emmy-worthy TV performances in shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus, her career as a lead in feature films is just now starting to take off. However, Sweeney had two extremely strong lead performances in the films Reality and American in 2023, so she’ll likely be getting a lot more film lead roles in the future.
Both Reality and Americana received great reviews from critics, with Sweeney’s performance often being highlighted in the reviews of each film.
Most recently, Sydney Sweeny continued to cement her superstardom by starring in a music video for legendary rock outfit The Rolling Stones for their song “Angry.” So, on top of her film and TV roles, Sweeney can add working with one of the greatest rock bands of all time to her resume. Sweeney also has plenty of intriguing upcoming roles on her project slate.
We won’t have to wait terribly long to see Sydney Sweeney make her superhero debut in Madame Web, as the film is set to come out early next year on February 14.
Of course, we can expect to see Sydney Sweeney reprising her role in Euphoria when the next season comes to HBO, but it might be a while before we see it. The series is reportedly not coming back until 2025 at the earliest, so there’s no telling when we might be seeing new episodes of the acclaimed HBO series on our home screen again. In the meantime, Sweeney has one of her biggest movie projects yet coming out in the near future.
Sydney Sweeney is set to co-star in the upcoming Sony Spider-Verse film Madame Web, which stars Dakota Johnson in the titular lead role as the clairvoyant mutant. Sweeney is set to have a huge role in the movie as Julia Carpenter, who comic book fans will know as the second person to don the Spider-Woman moniker. Alongside Sweeney and Johnson, the film will star Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Zosia Mamet, Tahar Rahim, and Mike Epps.
