Dealing with a student who won't follow rules?

É essencial que o aluno seja avaliado de maneira multidisciplinar, visto que existem diversas condições médicas e psicológicas que podem se manifestar como falta de apreço às regras, tais como: TDAH, altas habilidades e superdotação, TEA, além de questões psicossociais que podem estar ocultas. Ao identificar tais condições, podemos fornecer abordagens inclusivas e personalizadas, evitando a estigmatização e marginalização desses alunos.

As an experienced teacher, understanding why a student isn't following rules is super helpful. Take time to understand what might be causing the student to disregard the rules. It could be due to a variety of reasons like misunderstanding, peer influence, personal issues, or even a lack of clarity about expectations. Take the time to actively listen to the student without judgment. Discuss the situation with colleagues, counselors, or other support staff who may offer different perspectives or strategies.

In my experience, setting clear expectations with students is key to creating a positive and respectful learning environment. By communicating guidelines in a way that students understand and find meaningful, I've found that they are more likely to follow the rules. Explaining the reasons behind the rules and consistently reinforcing them with encouragement and fair consequences has made a significant impact. This approach has helped my students learn the importance of responsibility and self-discipline, fostering a more orderly and supportive classroom for everyone.

For example, there are many reasons why students shouldn’t speak when one of their peers is speaking: it’s rude, it can prevent others from hearing, and it can distract the speaker. However, not all reasons will resonate with every student. Therefore, it's important to consider why we have each rule. You might even discover that some rules are redundant and are just habitual.

Si se niegan, puedes hacer que el curso escriba una carta sobre algo que quieran contarme sin mencionar nombres. Esta actividad permite que se desahoguen; ahí pueden encontrar patrones sobre cómo afrontar el momento y tener una guía. También se pueden buscar intereses y proporcionar apoyo en clase asignándoles responsabilidades, esto créeme les permite reforzar su confianza en ellos mismos ☺️
