The lack of understanding of the motivation behind diversity initiatives can cause much resistance within teams. Some think it's a way to demonize some groups. Others think it give undue advantage. It is important to provide training or share information that these perceptions are incorrect.
More importantly, promote the understanding that diversity is a necessity for vibrant and thriving teams and businesses. When everyone sees things the same way or come similar backgrounds, valuable insights and perspectives are missed. People from different backgrounds, and whose unique life experiences have shaped who they are, bring invaluable points of view that would otherwise be missing. The different opinions can open doors to new opportunities.

Embrace a 'zig zag mindset' by acknowledging the volatility and strong emotions involved. Recognize that these differences can be both a challenge and an opportunity. Start by facilitating open discussions that allow all voices to be heard, fostering an environment of trust. Use the cyclical nature of business to your advantage by showing how inclusivity strengthens adaptability and resilience, essential traits in unpredictable markets. Emphasize strategic flexibility, encouraging the team to see diversity as a dynamic force that drives innovation and long-term success. Focus on actionable steps that align with shared goals, gradually bridging the gap and fostering a more inclusive culture.

Some realizations are necessary:
- acknowledge and understand that people are different and different perspectives yield better results.
