In a matrixed organisation with multiple reporting lines and stakeholders, it sometimes becomes difficult to manage job requirements from different stakeholders. 1. Clear Communication: Understand the needs from stakeholders and seek their priorities with timelines 2. Conflicting Priorities: Make a note of the priorities which are conflicting with other project needs 3. Logical reasoning: Assess at your end, which is in the best interest of the project and organisation's needs after giving due regard to the stakeholder's needs 4. Timelines: Evaluate the resources available, for setting ambitious yet realistic timelines.

Begin by actively listening to understand their priorities and concerns fully. Seek to identify shared goals or objectives. Maintain open and transparent communication throughout the process.

From experience I have understood that the sooner both agree or atleast understand each other's frame of reference or guiding principles of the project's priorities e.g. outcomes aligned with company priorities or business results etc, the better it will be to come to an agreed solution. Common belief is that you find a win-win solution but reality has taught me that its always a lose-lose solution that is more endearing towards stronger outcome. By lose-lose mean, both stakeholders dial down their positions and make the compromise that is needed (based on the frame of reference above).

Trust and rapport with your senior stakeholders can ease tensions and facilitate smoother negotiations. Investing time to understand them beyond the project context can be incredibly beneficial.
