One thing I find helpful is applying theory of constrains, to answer the question: what is the problem. Step 1 in TOC is about identifying the constrain: supply chain reliability?Increased lead times due to socio-political issues..short or long term? Internally created? e.g. lack of inventory accuracy.

Bottle necks in supply chain are common since we don't live in an ideal world. This must however, not effect the downstream processes as failure to have counter measures will greatly affect the customer service levels and confidence. The best way to solve this challenge is by maintaining wastes to a minimum while maximizing on the product utilization for value. Having a proper risk assessment on the suppliers will go a long way in determining which supplier is reliable in meeting the desired quantity, quality, safety, legality and authenticity of produce/service.

One size doesn't fit all. We need to analyse the entire production process (throughput time) and demand of the product. Then we need to adopt either push or full system. It is depends on whether you are producing for stock or for supply.

It is fundamental that the Takt Time was defined by Sales with SIOP and/or Master Planners. It is so critical that a manufacturing self-made takt time is absolutely useless!

Takt time plays a crucial role in establishing the streamline process and also has significant importance in finding loop holes in the process  Takt time is providing a time bound structure which helps to determine the cost of projects and takt time also leads towards finding the root cause/ opportunities for improvement. As by looking at takt time it can be identified where the bottle neck is and how it can be improved. Sometimes looking at takt time is key to solve the puzzle!

In my experience Root Cause Analysis prevents a sticking plaster mentality, allowing work arounds rather than sorting thing properly to get a permanent fix. Consider People-Process-Systems.

Root cause analysis is one of factor which plays an important role in production of an product. If problem and any queries flow out that identifies the possible causes which effect on the process which generate that queries and after brain storming or many methods to identify the root cause.
