In my experience of Business and IT, I did many process automation. In interviews one must be very clear on articulating what is process automation as often it is confused with Process Engineering. Process can be in either business or Industry domain or IT. Examples of process can be HR, Finance, Sales, Manufacturing, IT, R&D, SC domain like Mining, Chemical Engg, Construction, Medical etc. Automation means a Computer software doing certain tasks and reducing effort, cycle time and cost. Typically we see few steps in a workflow may be automated or with AI ML we could achieve 100% too. One must speak about tools and methods to achieve above in interview. Speak on experience on tools like AIOps, Appian, Nitex, Processmaker & Kissflow etc

Automation must serve its users and its purpose within the process. An ability to communicate with users or stakeholders that are not of an Automation background is key. Explaining how you would support users throughout the journey by providing that thoughtful translation between user story or requirements to the solution and always keeping the "audience" in mind will be a massive differentiator.
