Accepting the reality of failure is the first step towards setting realistic expectations. It's important to acknowledge what happened without dwelling on it negatively. Personal coaching can help you see failure as a valuable experience that provides insights into your strengths and weaknesses. By understanding where things went wrong, you can set new goals that are more aligned with your capabilities, ensuring that your expectations are grounded in reality.

There is only so far you can go with free advice on the internet, believe me I tried to do it on my own without help from a coach! It would take you a long time, you would end up giving up or you would not make any money if you continued. You would have to start the whole process again especially if you didn’t know your niche, your Best Friend in Business so if you did carry on (which is always better- remember why you started in the first place) you’re starting from the beginning again because you have to nurture your right audience for them to know, like and trust you and start those conversations again.

Brene Brown says the only time human beings suffer is when we argue with reality. The mental movie that we create in our head doesn't match up to reality, and we then find ourselves enraged, pissed off, upset--but the truth is that WE are the ones who wrote that story. Therefore, we are the ones who also can edit and re-write said story.

Regardless of the type of coaching (weight loss, personal, business, life, fitness, relationship, etc.) the KEY factor to success -- either before or after failing at it on our own -- is ACCOUNTABILITY. Living with zero accountability means: ✔️ No one asks. ✔️ No one knows. ✔️ No one holds you to what you said you were going to do. Without accountability, it’s way too easy to quit. With accountability, someone 𝑖𝑠 watching. Someone who wants you to hit your goal. There may be many reasons why you haven’t been able to reach your goals, but the main reason is the lack of accountability to someone other than yourself! There is no better solution than adding accountability into your life for the best chance to achieve success.

Reframing your thoughts around failure is essential in personal coaching. Instead of seeing it as a setback, view it as an opportunity for growth. Coaches encourage you to ask yourself what you can learn from the experience and how it can inform your future actions. This shift in perspective helps in setting expectations that are not only realistic but also empowering, as they are based on personal development rather than on avoiding failure.

Mindset is everything in life and in business. Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can’t, you’re right. It’s always important to practice mindset every day. And part of this is preparing yourself for situations that you can’t avoid. The best way to do this is to write down scenarios such as someone not wanting to work with you, a negative comment, not hitting a goal. And write down what you are going to do when/if the situation happens. This way you’re prepared for the negative situations and it can help with your mind shift when a negative situation happens.

A personal coach can help you reframe and redefine what failure means to you. By helping you redefine failure as a tool to learn and grow and something that could be a positive force in your life, a coach can help you move past the failure and build resilience in the process.
-
Reframe Your Mindset: Positive Outlook: Focus on the growth opportunities that failure provides. Shift your mindset from seeing failure as a setback to viewing it as a learning experience. Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Recognize that everyone experiences failure and that it’s a natural part of the journey.

Setting clear, achievable goals is a cornerstone of personal coaching. After a setback, it's vital to break down your larger objectives into smaller, manageable tasks. This approach helps you maintain focus and motivation, as each completed task brings a sense of accomplishment. Your coach will assist you in defining these steps, ensuring that your expectations match your current situation while still challenging you to grow.
-
You need to set goals in order to make them happen. And these goals aren’t just financial goals, what you need to earn and what you want to earn. Some other goals you need to set are your why. What is that bigger reason you do what you do that is beyond making sales? Your why is the driving force behind why you do what you do. Be realistic with your Need to Earn vs your Want to earn, these figures have to be accurate otherwise you’re not going to achieve them. If you want to earn money for holiday, find out the exact cost of everything included for your holiday, including spending money. And, what is the ultimate cost of not achieving your goals? Is it staying exactly where you are (and where you don’t want to be?)
-
Once you have acknowledged failure and reframed what it actually means to you, your coach can help you set new goals and come up with a framework to turn those goals into a reality. In addition to holding you accountable, a coach can help you take powerful action and set milestones that are achievable and likely to move you forward quickly and efficiently.

Strategic planning is a key aspect of personal coaching that aids in setting realistic expectations. After failure, it's important to develop a plan that considers potential obstacles and includes contingency strategies. Your coach will guide you in identifying resources and support systems that can help you achieve your goals, making your expectations more attainable by preparing for various outcomes.
-
Develop an Action Plan: Step-by-Step Plan: Create a detailed plan outlining the steps you need to take to reach your goals. Timeline: Establish a realistic timeline for accomplishing these steps, taking into account potential obstacles.
-
Embracing personal growth is crucial when setting new expectations. Personal coaching emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and adaptation. After a failure, assessing the skills you need to develop or improve becomes part of setting realistic goals. Coaches help you to focus on progress over perfection, encouraging a growth mindset that values effort and learning as much as the end result.
-
Perhaps deepening an understanding of what growth can be would help. Instead of viewing everyhting as effort equals positive change/growth. You can frame the failure, learn from what did not work and ove forward in a positive manner. Time is only wasted when it is not understood.
-
Seeking support is an integral part of the personal coaching process and is especially important after experiencing failure. Coaches provide a non-judgmental space where you can express your concerns and frustrations. They also help you build a support network of friends, family, or peers who can offer different perspectives and encouragement. With this support, you can set expectations that are not only realistic but also supported by a community that believes in your potential.

If you have an unregulated nervous system, nothing you create will be of your highest quality (science says it's impossible). In order to get back to centered groundedness, we need to diffuse our stress. We do that through speaking to others, journaling, exercising/moving, breathing. Support doesn't always have to involve someone else.
-
-
What if you just went out there and tried your best, instead of setting superficial rigid goals in a timeframe YOU chose based upon what YOU think you SHOULD be able to do. I'm not suggesting to not have goals. I'm suggesting that when you begin, the goal is simply to begin with whatever is next.

Remember why you started. Unsure about what to do if an amazing opportunity comes up? The wise words of Richard Branson will help - ‘if an amazing opportunity comes up but you don’t know how to do it- say yes and learn how to do it later.’ In other words jump before you’re ready, as chances are you’ll never be ready, so do it anyway!
