What are some effective ways to manage a team of vocational educators?

My 2 cents: 1. A team or person without a vision or a goal is like a cart without wheels. You won't reach anywhere. Have a vision and a goal 2. Build trust, encourage the team to become Deep Workers who will collaborate and connect by having a growth and innovative mindset. 3. Be lifelong learners. Learning should be constant from the womb to the tomb. 4. Develop and Mentor / Mentee culture where constructive feedback is appreciated and embraced. 5. Promote emotional, mental, intellectual and spiritual well-being

To engage with your team goals, and motivate with new thigs to do with case studies. To apply technology and past research to work for development with futuristic vision

The above concept level explanation is spot on. A teacher or instructor needs to turn this into a tangible program that can be grasped as it applies to the subject matter. A program provides guidelines and standards with which expectations can be set and performance evaluated. Then constructive feedback can be given for continued improvement and growth.

Feedback can quickly become destructive. It is too easy in technical fields to have conversational gaps in dialouge between student and instructor. Make sure the student truly understands the task at hand as it is possible they can take a path in the direction you did not I tend. Just because you the instructor don't get the answer you were looking for does not mean the student is wrong or that your expectations where right. Only when both parties understand the question and answer can proper feedback be given. This obviously won't apply to simple yes/no answers but more complex topics will require discussions to ensure you understand your students mind and give them the proper feedback

We are an ever changing population. The fields of study are growing and expanding every day. Failing to observe the ideas of the next generation and ensuring there is some mechanism to in place for their ideas to be shared is planning to ensure your curriculum become outdated and obsolete. I find creating events where the students lead portions of the training with only supervision from the instructor facilitates many of these goals. It breaks the comfort zones for those who would normally not want to speak and places a level of ownership and thinking not just about the topic but how to present it to others.

This takes a personal touch. Again you must understand what they want and need. It will likely require you to help them define that for themselves for the first time. Don't be scared to share personal life choices and details. Bring in colleagues if needed who may be better suited if your experience does not help you with an individuals needs.

Foster open communication within the team. Encourage regular meetings, professional development discussions, and opportunities for educators to share best practices and challenges.

Vocational educators are typically "doers". They value practical skills and pragmatism. You may encounter significant challenges earning their respect (an thus your influence with them) if they view you as someone lacking practical skills in some area. An unfortunate number of education administrators present as "non-doers". Elements that can contribute to this perception include: edu-speak; pristine appearance; lack of interest in the vocational educator's realm of specialty; not demonstrating practical knowledge. In short, if you're not "walking the walk", you will likely make effectively managing the vocational educators on your team more difficult.
