Make global talent feel at home by fostering a welcoming environment, offering cultural orientation programs, creating opportunities for community engagement, celebrating diverse cultures, providing mentorship, and ensuring access to resources that support their transition and well-being.

Creating a welcoming environment for global talent starts with fostering inclusion and cultural sensitivity. I focus on open communication, celebrating diverse cultures through events, and providing resources to help them adjust to the campus community. Building connections through mentorship programs and peer support ensures they feel valued and integrated. By promoting mutual respect and understanding, we create a supportive atmosphere where global talent thrives and contributes meaningfully to the campus.

Amazing! Diversity enriches the whole campus. I'd start with peer mentorship programs – connect new students with those already settled. Also, celebrate cultural events! A potluck, international film night... simple things go a long way in building community.

In my view, if you managed to attract global talent, then embrace it. Yes... It is important to foster a welcoming environment, but it is also important to make them feel welcomed by allowing them to show why they are important and why they are being attracted and attractive. Allow them the opportunity to make their own contributions... To show how their individual talent is key to create sinergy.

After my experience as an international/overseas student at Trinity College Dublin, and a visiting scholar at KU Leuven, the University of Saarland, and the University of Potsdam, I value finding a space to feel welcome and at home. Language cafés also called Tandem or Language Exchange sessions are spaces that value language and intercultural diversity. The informality of those spaces offers a great opportunity to connect with the college community in a relaxing and natural way. The benefits of those spaces have been widely presented in research reports among good practices of prestigious higher education institutions.
