I’ve found that giving feedback with intentionality on job descriptions and general career goals can significantly help individuals understand their strengths and interests. This focused feedback provides clear guidance, enabling clarity in their career objectives and goals.

Thanks for inviting me to answer. I think feedback that people give you, for example, how they see you and what they think you're good at or not good at (that can improve), will give you a different perspective of who you are (that you may not have realized). So yes, taking feedback may allow you to gain more insights when you think about your career path. But keep in mind, we don't necessarily need to take feedback on "how to develop your career path" as it can be subjective, and it's your own choice, so don't mix it up. Feedback should facilitate your thinking process but not overly control it. Be yourself and choose your own path. Thank you.

I would say only seek feedback if you are open-minded to make change.. which is what refinement is all about. Hearing to your feedback in a non-defensive manner to pick out the relevant nuggets for your plan. Hone your plan based on those suggestions and then give yourself some time (& space) to try the new things. Refinement is an iterative process as opposed to once and done.. therefore making your personal development and growth a constant journey.

It’s not just about the end goal but the tangible and achievable steps that you set to get there. Focus only on each step - the end goal will then take care of itself as you progress through each step.

I have found that actually spending sometime working out what your career objectives are, and where you as Trying to be is a guiding light. Get the basics in place first, then seek feedback from where you are now and where and what you need to do to get there.

Over various companies and industries i have worked in, I have realized that the age old formula of 'give negative feedback in 1:1 and appreciate in public' goes a really long way. Each one of us has self image and we are definitely conscious of it. When one receives praises in public it boosts their morale and even encourages others to go that extra mile. And whenever criticizing/giving negative feedback talk about the exact incidence, not the personal traits of the individual. I have genuinely seen (and even myself left) companies struggle to retain talent because of really toxic work cultures despite high pays/great job satisfaction. It all boils down to respect
