Personally I use IMDbPro to showcase my work as its the industry standard... You can use other platforms but they are lesser known and don't give you the respect of a professional film maker... Other platforms are only there to supplement your work...

Follow industry-related accounts, film festivals, and production companies on platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook to stay updated on industry news, trends, and job opportunities. Engaging with relevant content can also help you stay informed and connected.

Social media is a great way to develop your audience as a creator/filmmaker. It is the best way to communicate directly with your fandom without any intermediaries. I strongly suggest to any creator to start using social media to begin to build its audience.

You are already doing it by reading this and being on LinkedIn. Being authentic and professional are your greatest assets on social media. Don't try to look more advanced than you are in your career, that will set you back further rather than advance you. If you don't know a lot then it is okay to admit that you don't. Use that as an opportunity to ask questions, by doing so you will get more engagement on your social profiles. You will get great positive feedback and you will get negative feedback. It's easy to be professional with positive feedback. Ignore the negative feedback - if it isn't going to help you then don't worry about. Be professional with each engagement, you never know what position someone will have one day.

Social media is very helpful in opening doors and building relationships. Everyone in the entertainment business is looking for their next great project. Always, always approach and maintain a high clear business standard. Know who you are communicating with, some want to be courted, others usally higher up the food chain) are cut to the chase business. Now, you must master sorting out the con wo(men) on social media. That takes skill, a skill I have taught my best connection maker.

Respectful, concise and if possible witty! Pics can speak 1000 words. Give a glimpse into one's world. And just as importantly, react and comment to the work and world of others.

My goal for social media is to add value to people’s lives and be kind. That’s it. Doing so fosters some amazing connections and I’ve met people I never would have otherwise. The film industry is all about connections. Take the time to build genuine connections with people and they’ll think of you when they need help.

I would also add us attend film events, conferences, festivals and be open to meeting people. Share what you have done, offer to support others projects and keep learning. Be honest about the scope of what you can do but also stand proudly in your experiences thus far.

I know a lot of people choose to post near daily for a blanket effect. I understand this style does work, though it can be in danger of being watered down or over saturated. But for myself, I choose to only post occasionally and, especially, if I have something interesting to share like a premiere of a film, or I’m starting a new series or I remembered to take some pics of a cool scene (I forget this so much because of the concentration it takes or the pressures of being on set where every minute is valuable). I also strive to post only very compelling or unique images to support my post or draw interest. I also occasionally post a little more personal post - I think it helps build connections. I believe in quality over quantity.

A lot of shifts are currently happening. A lot of platforms also that make almost everyone accessible. I’d say just be real. It’s not all about advancing or networking all the time. It is also connecting as a human being. Sharing ideas, creating a good energy flow for oneself and others.
