Happy Friday LinkedIn community! Last month, I had the incredible privilege of collaborating with Desire Jones Co Company and Prime Video & Amazon Studios as part of the "This is Our Land" social impact initiative and film screening, which revolves around the issue of black land dispossession in America. The documentary, "Silver Dollar Road," sheds light on the Reels family who have been deeply impacted by unjust land laws and systems right here in the state of North Carolina. This resulted in two family members serving 8 years in prison and losing substantial amounts of money in the process. I was honored to moderate a post-film discussion panel featuring remarkable individuals, including Kim Duhon, a member of the Reels family and co-narrator of the film. Also on the panel were Cameron Sheard the president of the NAACP chapter at Elizabeth City State University ,Dr. Lateif Tarik, the assistant professor and program director of the history department, and Aniyah Britt, a history major at ECSU. This event would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of the 1704 Media Productions team. A special thanks to them for capturing this meaningful conversation and working behind the scenes to ensure that this event ran smoothly. What a fantastic way to start the weekend! This morning, I had the great joy of representing my cherished organization, 1704 Media Productions, alongside my team members, Serenity Shipp and Qua’Nisha Clemons, at Elizabeth City State University’s Fall Open House. Outreach is crucial for the sustainability of our programs and for showcasing the opportunities our university provides. I had the privilege of engaging with transfer students and incoming freshmen, highlighting the wide array of creative offerings from 1704 Media Productions. Viking Pride 3x !!💙🤍
