How can we use gamification in hospitality? 👾 As the most competitive man you’ll ever meet, it probably won’t surprise you to hear that I advocate for the gamification of most areas of life! Yet bias aside, there is a case for gamifying specific business objectives to achieve more substantial team buy-in. In my previous role, we launched a global incentive for our teams to increase the average spend in our venues. The concept was simple - everyone across the business competed to sell the most cocktails to win an incredible prize. Alongside the competition, we launched a training app that hosted games where players collected medals and points. The results spoke for themselves… The team members who completed the training games and passed the quizzes outsold those who didn’t. By embracing the games, these individuals took ownership of their development, creating an environment where the team were more motivated and invested in their roles and provided better business outcomes. No one can ever tell me “It's only a game" again!
