About us

211 LA County is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, formerly known as INFO LINE of Los Angeles. It is one of the largest information and referral (I&R) service in the nation, helping approximately 500,000 individuals and families in Los Angeles County each year, and is recognized nationally, throughout the state, and in Canada for its leadership in the field. Since 1981, 211 LA County has provided free, confidential services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in English, Spanish and more than 140 other languages via a tele-interpreting service. Services are also provided for individuals with hearing impairments. 211 LA County is also the creator and manager of the AIRS/211 LA County Taxonomy of Human Services. It is a tool that has taken over 30 years to create with it’s beginning in 1982. The Taxonomy creates an infrastructure for human services databases including those maintained by 2-1-1 systems and statewide aging and ADRC systems as well as HMIS systems, disability related I & R services and specialized programs in other areas. 211 LA County is also an innovator in the field of 211 information and referral and care coordination software having created 211LinQ and CareLinQ to address the needs of service providers all over the world.

    🌈 In honor of United Against Hate Week, the 211 LA team is proud to attend the 2024 Hate Crimes Grantee Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. This multidisciplinary forum brings together award recipients from various Bureau of Justice Assistance programs, including the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Program, the Emmett Till Cold Case Investigations, and the Community-based Approaches to Prevent and Address Hate Crimes.     📣 We’re thrilled to announce that United Way is partnering with 211 LA to launch new and improved #211Helpline technology to better respond to the 55,000+ requests for help we receive each year!    “The 211 team is excited to unite on an innovative platform to improve call handling and community service,” said Amy L. Story, UWGC Director of Community Connections. “Our adaptable, compassionate staff now have nimble technology to support our direct service efforts and growth!”     The transition to CareSuite will replace our current 211 system, allowing us to implement both existing and new programs on a unified, efficient platform. This partnership marks a first for Los Angeles County’s 211 system and supports new opportunities for UWGC revenue streams, including the expansion of our 211 footprint.    As one of the largest information and referral services in the nation, 211 LA assists about 500,000 individuals and families annually and is renowned for its leadership.     🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 Earlier this month, on July 8th, we were honored to receive a Certificate of Recognition for our dedicated support of the 2024 Older Adult Social Isolation and Loneliness Awareness Campaign. This campaign, organized by the LA County Aging & Disabilities Department, LA County Department of Public Health, Los Angeles Alliance for Community Health & Aging, Los Angeles Social Isolation Impact Coalition, and 211 LA, sheds light on the impact of social isolation on older adult health and well-being, particularly among older adults and people with disabilities. The 2-1-1 line was an integral component in assisting individuals experiencing social isolation to get connected to support.     Did you hear the great news? 🎉 211 LA has been honored with the Innovator of the Year award for Service Delivery for our groundbreaking collaborative work for CA vs. Hate. 🏆💪 CA vs. Hate is a non-emergency hate incident and hate crime reporting system designed to support individuals and communities targeted by hate.
