On this Memorial Day, as we reflect on the sacrifices of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation, I am reminded of the profound personal debt of gratitude we owe to the American Army and its allied forces who liberated the Dutch people in 1945 from Nazi Germany. Their courage and selflessness ensured the liberation of countless individuals, including members of my own ancestral extended family. The memory of over 400 cherished relatives lost during the Holocaust serves as a stark reminder of the horrors of tyranny. Without the sacrifices of these valiant soldiers, I would not be here today, nor would many others. Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we cherish, and on this day, we honor their memory by pledging to never forget their sacrifices and the evil they fought to save us. 🇺🇸
