Insurance premiums are soaring like all other expenses, but the reason goes far beyond inflation. A big driver is excessive litigation, or what we call “tech-enabled claims instigation.” This practice is riddled with opportunism, and disrupting the insurance industry in ways that deeply harm consumers. In our latest article, CEO Todd Kozikowski explains how this happens and why it’s bad for policyholders: https://lnkd.in/eu4H_4eB

We were in Louisiana this week sharing our analysis of the state's insurance landscape. The results: Nearly 325 opportunists collectively spent $100 million targeting insurance companies in the past year. This resulted in more lawsuits in property, casualty, and auto insurance. Todd Kozikowski also discussed the role of AI in tech-enabled claims such as deep fakes to target policyholders across the country. #LDI2024

Our new report on tech-enabled claims instigation shows opportunistic firms are also targeting transportation and logistics companies. Thank you Carrier Management for sharing this information on how tech-enabled claims instigation leads to higher costs for insurers, which are then passed down to the companies they represent. "Tech-enabled claims instigation drives social inflation and nuclear verdicts, making insurance less available and affordable, according to the analysis." In a new Bankrate article from Shannon Martin, we shared our thoughts on social inflation and how AI is making it easier for opportunistic law firms: “AI provides individuals with no coding knowledge the tools to target people, companies and, of course, websites. This leads to the scalability of numerous cyberattacks, as well as the ability to publish large volumes of targeted SEO content,” said CEO and co-founder Todd Kozikowski. In June 2023, 4WARN informed our clients that we found data leading us to believe doxo was using misleading search ads and targeted SEO to impersonate the premium payment portals of insurance companies to attract consumer payments. Many of our clients were impacted, with consumers paying millions in additional fees. Some of our insurance clients even cancelled policyholders when payment was mistakingly made to the misleading portal. 4WARN advised our clients to review all received payments and will continue to monitor activity related to doxo's targeting practices. We recently learned that the Federal Trade Commission is taking action against doxo for these practices. We are proud to have alerted clients nearly one year before the FTC’s legal action.
