Do you have your tickets to our 2nd Annual Benefit Dinner? November 5th, 2024 in New York City. Enjoy food, drinks, and networking with some of the top firms and organizations in the city, along with 51 Vets members. Contact Lindsey@51vets.org to secure your ticket or table! Today, we highlight the The Riverside Company, a long standing supporter of 51 Vets and its members and mission. We asked them why they chose to support 51 Vets and sponsor the Benefit Dinner: "As a retired Army Major and who now has a son in the Navy, I fully recognize the urgent need to give back and assist veterans, especially those in Special Operations Forces, to transition to the civilian work force in a timely manner. 51 Vets provides the support , encouragement, and help to identify the translatable skills needed to assist these unique groups of veterans to achieve their future goals." Robert Landis, Founding Partner, Origination and 51 Vets Board member.

51 Vets is excited to announce we are a recipient of Google's philanthropic endeavors. “Through a generous donation of $125,000.00, Google has given 51 Vets the opportunity to advance our programs and mission in exemplary ways. This donation will give us the opportunity to support more members during City Summits, as well as increase our impact for those attending MBA programs - enabling our veterans to find meaningful roles in the private sector while supporting our growing organization.” said Lindsey Schiro, 51 Vets CEO. We are profoundly grateful to the 51 Vets member who nominated us for this donation, and we are looking forward to seeing its impact come to fruition in many ways.

The Special Operations community is small, which is why they all band together when tragedy or hardships fall upon one of their members. Last week, four Active Duty Green Berets lost everything they own to a house fire. The GoFundMe link is below if you feel inclined to donate to help them get back on their feet. Thank you!

The 51 Vets Board of Directors is proud to announce the addition of Weston Hovde to the Board. Wes is a former Green Beret who served 11 years in the Army and is currently attending Harvard Business School. He grew up in East Wenatchee, WA, studied finance at the University of Washington and initially worked as a consultant on the finance side of the healthcare industry prior to joining the military. In the Infantry, Wes served as an arctic Airborne Platoon Leader and Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General of US Army Alaska. Upon becoming a Green Beret, he worked throughout Southeast Asia as the Commander of a Combat Dive Team and finished his career as a Jedburgh Commander. He now lives in Boston with his wife and five-year-old daughter and is excited for the opportunity to finally catch up on time with his family. Wes feels deeply honored to be a member of 51 Vets, to have served as the Director of Membership, and to join the phenomenal board team in the pursuit of every opportunity to open doors for Special Operations Veterans across the private sector.
