As the Army’s premier communications provider, we enable the Army's ability to build, train, compete, fight, and win.
About us
7th Signal Command (Theater) was activated on July 1, 1975 at Fort Ritchie, Maryland, and was tasked to oversee and support all CONUS Signal operations, complementing 5th Signal Command in Europe and 6th Signal Command in the Pacific. The command provided communications, automation, visual information, printing and publications, and records management services to CONUS Army units. 7th Signal Command was deactivated on October 1, 1993 and its functional support components were redistributed to Fort Detrick, Maryland and several other posts. On July 22, 2008, 7th Signal Command was reactivated at Fort Gordon, Georgia as part of the “Grow the Army" initiative. 7th Signal Command's commander at reactivation was Brigadier General Jennifer Napper. The Army’s premier communications provider with global reach, the 7th Signal Command enables the Army's ability to build, train, compete, fight, and win across complex Joint & Coalition Multi- and All-Domain environments. 7th Signal Command’s three subordinate Signal Brigades are 93rd Signal Brigade headquartered at Fort Eustis, Virginia, the 106th Signal Brigade at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, and the 21st Signal Brigade at Fort Detrick, Maryland. On September 1, 2021, 7th Signal Command (Theater) Headquarters began split-based operations between Fort Gordon, Georgia and Fort Meade, Maryland. This move increases ARCYBER’s lethality and the readiness and capability of DODIN-Army Operations.

The United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) has successfully supported the completion of the Critical Design Review (CDR) for the Global Secure Network (GSN), a foundational element of the Army's next Secure Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) network. The CDR, which took place over three days, marked a significant milestone in the project, allowing the lead contractor to present their 100% design plan to NETCOM and the Project Manager for Integrated Enterprise Network (PM IEN). The GSN represents a vital investment in the Army's future communication capabilities, with the CDR serving as the final step in the design phase before advancing to procurement, engineering, and implementation. This achievement follows nearly a year of diligent work, including overcoming challenges such as a contract protest, showcasing the resilience and commitment of NETCOM and PM IEN. "Successful collaboration between NETCOM and PM IEN has been essential in guiding the design process of GSN,” said COL Jefferey Couillard, NETCOM Senior Guard Advisor. "NETCOM and PM IEN formed a solid partnership early on in the program, which has been essential in supporting PM IEN's efforts through the design phase." The GSN will incorporate four key capabilities, ensuring robust and secure communications for Army operations: 1. Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC): Provides a framework for secure communication using commercially available technology. 2. SIPR – Consolidated Security Suite (S-CSS): Serves as a replacement for legacy SIPR Top Level Architecture (TLA) stacks, enhancing security and streamlining operations. 3. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI): Facilitates remote access and enhances operational flexibility. 4. Multiple Independent Layers of Security (MILS): Ensures a comprehensive security approach for classified communications. The implementation of CSfC will occur first, closely followed by the deployment of S-CSS, symbolizing a decisive shift towards modernized communication solutions within the Army. "This is an exciting step forward as we transition to a more secure, efficient framework for the Army’s classified communications," said Mr. Robert A. Holloway, Jr., GSN Project Officer, PM IEN. "We look forward to continuing our work with NETCOM and our contractors to make GSN a reality." The GSN will fundamentally enhance the Army's communication capabilities while ensuring the highest standards of security, thereby enabling the effective execution of operations across the globe.

The 7th Signal Command (Theater) can only achieve our mission if we keep the best and brightest serving among our ranks. We work hard to retain our Soldiers by engaging them in interesting work and giving them the recognition they deserve for their service to the Command. In a recent ceremony on Ft. Meade, 7SC(T) Assistant Chief of Staff G-3, COL Glenroy Haskins, administered the oath of re-enlistment to Staff Sergeant Dymon Joseph, and commended her for outstanding performance as the 7SC(T) G-3 Command Center Information Technology Operations NCO. SSG Joseph enlisted in 2017, and previously served in the 20th CBRNE Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground as well as the Allied Forces North Battalion in Poland, where she was the senior information technology specialist. With this re-enlistment, SSG Joseph is reclassing to a 25D MOS, Cyber Network Defender. Congratulations, SSG Joseph, and keep up the good work!
