The 1980s were a decade of growth and innovation for Jandris, setting the stage for future success. The real game-changer came during a family trip to Austria where Albert Jandris, inspired by European producers, saw an opportunity to innovate. Unable to find the right machinery to grind concrete blocks to his standards, Albert designed and built his own. This led to the construction of a 17,000 square foot grinding plant, where Jandris could now produce ground face blocks on site. This milestone not only expanded our product line but also paved the way for the innovative spirit that defines us to this day. #FamilyBusiness #BusinessGrowth #Throwback #FamilyOwned #CMU

October is #NationalEnergyAwarenessMonth, making it the perfect time to highlight the energy-saving benefits of concrete masonry. Concrete block is not only durable and strong but also an excellent choice for energy efficiency. Thanks to its high thermal mass, concrete masonry naturally regulates indoor temperatures by absorbing and storing heat energy. This means buildings stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer — reducing the strain on HVAC systems and lowering overall energy consumption. In fact, buildings made with concrete block can help cut down on energy costs and minimize carbon footprints. CMUs ability to store heat and release it gradually reduces the need for constant temperature adjustments, making it a sustainable and cost-effective building solution. As we focus on energy awareness and consumption this month, recognize how building materials like concrete masonry can play a role in creating a more sustainable future. Build with block. #CMU #ThermalMass #EnergyAwarenessMonth #SustainableBuilding

“The materials you choose truly matter.” It’s often the difference between catastrophe and a close call. Being that it’s National Fire Prevention Week, I’d be remiss not reminding folks that concrete block saves life. Sprinkler systems and smoke alarms alone don’t cut it. Concrete block is the only sure thing for fire resistance. Build With Strength shows the importance of fire-safe construction: https://lnkd.in/gyDzc3ag

#FirePreventionWeek is here, and there's one material that stands strong in the face of flames — concrete block. 🔥 When it comes to fire resistance, concrete is one of the safest construction materials available. Unlike wood that burns and steel that weakens under heat, concrete block structures remain standing, even in extreme fire conditions. Not only does concrete block resist fire, but when used as part of passive design, compartmentalization also prevents flames from spreading, providing critical protection in both homes and apartment buildings. For safety that lasts, build with block and safeguard your structures from the unexpected. Heidi Jandris has established herself as one of the country’s elite minds when it comes to embodied carbon, and we’re proud to have her on our Board. She recently concluded a trip to the Cornhusker state where she presented to students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Nebraska at Omaha on some of the lesser-known benefits of CMU construction, including its uncanny ability to sequester CO2. Heidi’s sessions are part of a broader effort to enhance CMU proficiency at the university level, ensuring the next generation of architects and engineers have a well-rounded skillset and knowledge base to draw upon as they enter the workforce.
