“I will soon celebrate 14 years as a city driver at our ABF Freight Sherman, TX service center —I have never been happier and never looked back!! I just received my 11 years of safety patch, bronze award, and was selected for the 2023 load team. I was recently nominated by ABF for the Women in Trucking Driver of the Year. I love the fact that more women are getting into a male dominated profession. It’s a pretty awesome feeling to go out and do a good job and succeed in the industry! I never expected a career in the trucking industry but after teaching myself how to drive a truck while helping my husband on the farm, I grew to love it. My best advice to someone new in the industry is watch, listen, and be willing to learn, especially from those who are experienced. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for help. Even after 14 years, I’m still learning and still asking questions. In this field you never stop learning!”—Sheila Davis
