I'll be revisiting topics around later-life, lower-rate horizontal wells on request from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) for their Southwest Section Annual Conference in Abilene next month. It's surprising how tight the economics can get relatively quickly and also surprising just how many horizontal wells; even in big unconventional basins, are down at only 30-50 Bopd after starting rates at or above 1,000 Bopd. For this event, I'm planning on a deeper dive into geologic considerations including benches and regional geology. Also planning on a closer look at the impact of G&A expectations and capital structure with at least one very eye-opening example! Should be fun one with some lively discussions and viewpoints! Can always count on the geos to call it (out) like they see it!
