🌍 ACCTING Case Studies highlight inspiring communities across Europe that shape sustainable initiatives involving vulnerable groups of people. 🏘 In Oslo, Norway, Sofienberggata 7 is a municipally-owned building that underwent an energy overhaul to cut usage by 70%. Solar panels, thermal wells and other installations help low-income residents with lower energy bills, while the renovation provides opportunities to meet and create a stronger sense of community. 🔎 Read the case study: https://lnkd.in/eeFe_EFR Oslo kommune #EnergyEfficiency #CommunityLiving #GreenTransition #sustainability

🌍 ACCTING Case Studies highlight inspiring communities across Europe that actively shape #sustainable initiatives for vulnerable groups. ☀️ Next stop: Avedøre, Denmark! Solhuset showcases how low-income residents collaborated to achieve sustainable energy, leading to Denmark’s first citizen-led #EnergyCommunity, with the support of partners including EBO Consult and Hvidovre Kommune. 🔎 What makes this project inspiring and inclusive? Efforts to make the building energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable include the installation of solar panels. This #GreenEnergy initiative is not only reducing carbon emissions but also helping low-income tenants cut down on their utility bills. Residents of the building aren't just beneficiaries – they have a direct say in every #community decision, ensuring tailored solutions that meet their real needs while discovering sustainable living practices. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/eT27rTSt #CommunityEnergy #SolarPower #GreenTransition

🌍 ACCTING Case Studies highlight inspiring communities across Europe that actively shape sustainable initiatives involving vulnerable groups of people. ☀️ First stop: Aarhus, Denmark, where energy community members co-own a rooftop solar installation, empowering their role in the green transition while earning economic returns. What makes this initiative inspiring and inclusive? While energy poverty may not be as pronounced in Aarhus as in other regions, most students do not own homes and lack the financial resources to invest in green projects. The low share cost set by the Universitetets Energifællesskab allows students and local residents often overlooked in major energy projects to join the energy community and actively participate in the green transition without significant financial barriers. 🔎 Read more: https://lnkd.in/e5h_zgJP #RenewableEnergy #EnergyCommunity #GreenTransition

🌍 Today is #WorldFoodDay! This year’s theme, "Right to Foods for a Better Life and Future," reminds us that nutritious, affordable, and safe food is essential for all. Achieving this requires not only better access to healthy foods but also addressing inequalities in the food system. 🌿 Celebrated one day after #InternationalDayOfRuralWomen, World Food Day also highlights the vital role rural women play in food production and sustainable farming. They are true #FoodHeroes, and supporting rural women means securing a sustainable food future for everyone. 🌾 Celebrating the Strength and Resilience of Rural Women+ 🌾 On this International Day of Rural Women, we celebrate the vital role that rural women play in producing food and supporting agriculture worldwide. These women are the backbone of rural communities, leading efforts in food production, sustainable farming, and the preservation of cultural traditions. Yet, their work is becoming increasingly difficult. Rural women face significant challenges due to the climate crisis, which threatens their crops and livelihoods, as well as neoliberal development policies and extractivism, which often exploit their lands and resources for short-term profit at the expense of long-term sustainability. One powerful example is the ongoing struggle of women in #Akbelen, Turkey, who are on the front lines of protecting their forests and lands from destruction by coal mining. Their resistance is emblematic of the global fight against the exploitation of rural communities and natural resources. Despite these obstacles, rural women continue to fight for their communities, for food security, and for the protection of their environment. Today, we honor not just their contributions but also their courage in confronting these systemic injustices. Supporting rural women means supporting solutions to the climate crisis, advocating for fair policies, and standing against the exploitation of natural resources. You can check out our ACCTING factsheet, "Local is Beautiful: Gender+ inclusive agricultural policies and civil society practices for and with small farmers" where we develop recommendations for policymakers and civil society organisations to support sustainable and inclusive small farming practices. Here is the link: https://lnkd.in/dNm2fVJU with Ayşe Gül Altınay, Burcu Borhan Tureli, Marina Cacace, Ana Vivas, and Sofia Strid. Let’s continue to amplify the voices of small farmer women+ and ensure their leadership is recognized. 🌍💪 #InternationalDayOfRuralWomen #ClimateCrisis #Neoliberalism #Extractivism #RuralWomen #Agriculture #Akbelen #Sustainability #Empowerment #FoodSecurity
