ACE Mentor of Greater Omaha junior kickoff began at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater as they begin to prepare their program year on developing a plan for a neighborhood one screen movie theater in a historic area of Omaha.

Starting again today on our second kickoff session. We will have an action packed day starting at Film Streams in downtown Omaha and concluding at Kiewit University. Two kickoffs because ACE Mentor of Greater Omaha is growing, such the reason for separating into two kickoffs. This year’s project, “Neighborhood Community Movie Theater,” is an exciting and different project from a traditional project. What a PERFECT Day for golf. ACE Mentor of Greater Omaha held their 6th Annual Golf Tournament at Tiburon and it was a huge success. Thanks to all who helped to make it a huge success. And thanks for all the networking opportunities. Because of AEC partners in Omaha the future looks bright for the students who participate in the ACE Mentor of Greater Omaha program.

Seniors from 10 of our greater Omaha public schools joined us on Friday for this year’s kickoff. Here is a combination of those students participating in a Charette. What a great experience! Senior Kickoff is in the books and what a day it was. Kicking off the project theme of “A Neighbood Movie Theater,” our ACE Mentor of Greater Omaha participants heard from professionals at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater, Brian Yentes from RW Èngineering on site selection, and mark hoeger, University of Nebraska at Omaha professor, on the History of Film. In addition, our mentors held a Charette on site selection and community need for a movie theater in your area. Again our thanks goes to Kiewit University for the use of this amazing facility.

Tomorrow, we kick off this year's project at Kiewit University. On the walls at the KU is a quote from former CEO Ken Stinson that speaks to the spirit of Kiewit and ACE Mentor of Greater Omaha: "WE can't afford to be so busy that we can't take some time to train and mentor our younger people.
