A trusted partner, unlocking the potential beyond disabilities.
About us
Founded in 1940 as the Society for Crippled Children, we now serve children and adults with a broad range of disabilities and special needs including autism, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other physical and emotional challenges. Our unique, comprehensive service model weaves together therapy, intensive therapy, education and autism services, recreation, adapted sports and family support services to meet the needs of the entire family. The agency serves individuals across the lifespan, with a special focus on children from birth through age five. In Fiscal Year 2019-2020, many of the clients served by the Achievement Centers participated in or received multiple programs and services. Over the past year, the agency provided 194,201 service hours to more than 3,000 individuals and their families.

How do wings sound tonight?! Buffalo Wild Wings in Strongsville (8465 Pearl Rd.) has chosen Achievement Centers for Children as its community partner for October. 100% of donations from diners throughout the month will benefit ACC and Camp Cheerful! Plus, for any donations of $5 or more, diners will receive a coupon for a free 6-piece boneless wings order. That’s a yummy incentive! #DineAndDonate #Strongsville #CampCheerful

We had a very special volunteer group at Camp Cheerful recently. It included employees from Ohio Desk and Hylant who come twice a year to help us with important maintenance projects throughout our campus! They were joined by members of Rotary Club of Cleveland, one of the founding organizations of Camp Cheerful! We are so grateful for all they did during their visit – and for all our volunteers who help us with upkeep at our three sites. https://bit.ly/3Bth6i2 #VolunteersMakeADifference #CampCheerful

Today launches a month dedicated to raising awareness and celebrating people with Down syndrome. We think this video does both beautifully. Please take a few minutes to watch. It was first introduced for World Down syndrome Day, and we think it’s perfect to share today, too. https://lnkd.in/eNMEvcY #DownSyndromeAwareness #AchievementCentersCle

We are launching a new series of infant massage classes at our Westlake site on October 10th! The Thursday 10am classes will run through 11/7. Infant massage is a great way to soothe fussy babies, improve digestion, and deepen sleep. Thanks to Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board of Cuyahoga County & Invest in Children for their support. Gavin, one of our Therapeutic Horsemanship riders who has been with our program since he was in first grade, recently chose to have his high school senior pictures taken at Camp Cheerful with the horses he’s come to love! He and his mom spoke a few years ago at our volunteer banquet where she shared how grateful she has been to have this program in Gavin’s life. We are so proud of Gavin and all the progress he’s made over the years! #Classof2025 #TherapeuticHorsemanship #CampCheerful

We are so proud of our newest Help Me Grow graduate, Zaina! She and mom have been participating in the program since Zaina was 1 month old. During their time working with our HMG home visitor, Emily, the family gained access to many different community resources. Zaina recently mastered naming and identifying colors and loves coloring. She can’t wait to start preschool! #HelpMeGrow #AchievementCentersCle

Thank you to the team from Juniper Networks who volunteered recently at Camp Cheerful. They planted flowers and shrubs purchased with funds they donated to us! Their generous donation also allowed us to purchase new Adirondack chairs for our participants and visitors. We are so grateful to our many volunteers who support our mission in multiple ways! #VolunteersMakeADifference #CampCheerful
