To celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day, we are bringing you 3 indigenous strategies of restoring the earth! 1. Yenesha people and biodiversity 🥭 The Yenesha people of Peru increase bio-diversity by selecting and cultivating different varieties of cocona, a nutrient-rich fruit native to the Amazon. This genetic diversity allows cocona to thrive in various environments. By maintaining biodiversity, they help protect the Amazon, the largest carbon sink on the planet. 2. Yurok & Karuk Tribes and Prescribed Burning 🔥 The Yurok and Karuk tribes in California use a traditional practice called prescribed burning. They intentionally set small, controlled fires to reduce wildfire intensity and improve plant production. This practice also significantly reduces carbon emissions by managing fire risk. 3. Native Hawaiians & Carbon-Free Fishing 🎣 Native Hawaiians fish sustainably using semi-enclosed fish ponds with no greenhouse gas emissions. They build rock walls to create ponds where nutrient-rich water feeds microscopic plants, which attract fish. This carbon-free fishing method allows for responsible and sustainable fishing practices. 🌱 Read more about how their sustainable methods for restoring ecosystems here: https://ow.ly/5sXj50TIjvq #IndigenousPeoplesDay #SustainablePractices #ClimateAction

🎙️ In this episode of The Climate Dad, Jonathan Bowers, CEO of Path and Focus, talks about Lens—a tool designed to help people track and understand wildfires. It provides critical insight into fire movement, giving users a clearer picture of how these massive fires grow and spread. Jonathan shares how watching fire hotspots evolve with Lens can give you a real sense of the scale and power behind these wildfires—"it gives you a better appreciation for what is going on and the difficulty in actually trying to stop [wildfires]." 👉 Tune in now for more of this conversation: https://ow.ly/I7p850TFQr0 #WildfireAwareness #FireTracking #ClimateTech

🚙 In episode 10 of The Climate Dad Podcast, host Mike Smith breaks down the technology advantages of electric vehicles. 1. There are almost no moving parts - which means the maintenance is practically non-existent 2. The acceleration is almost instantaneous 3. Gas station trips are a thing of the past 4. EV's are a lot more spacious (because of the lack of mechanical stuff in the car) 👉 Check out what else Mike has to say about electric vehicles in the most recent episode of The Climate Dad!
