Thanks to everyone who has reached out to extend their condolences and support to our family during this difficult time! Please see below the Obituary and Celebration of Life information for my dad, LC Meachum. DURHAM: Leaton Cornelius “L.C.” Meachum Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Croasdaile Village Pavilion. He was born in Durham, the son of the late Leaton Cornelius Meachum Sr. and Mary Louise Herndon Meachum. Mr. Meachum was the owner and founder of ACR Supply Company based out of Durham, NC.. Mr. Meachum is survived by his wife, Faye Meachum; son, Troy Meachum and wife Sherry; daughter, Linda Gamble Wiley, and Mr. Meachum’s stepson Mike Briggs passed away on June 12th, 2015. Grandchildren, Angela Ashworth and husband Ivan, Derek Briggs, Robbie Gamble, Taylor Meachum and wife Hannah Grace, Trevor Wiley; great-grandchildren, Ava Ashworth, Aubrey Ashworth, Jackson Briggs, Odie Briggs, Atlas Briggs and Leaton Meachum. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 2nd at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends immediately following the service in the Gathering Room at Clements from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A private family only graveside will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00pm in Durham, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ACR Cares, which is the ministry arm of ACR Supply. They work with numerous non-profits such as Roc-Solid Foundation, Operation Resolute, Ronald McDonald House as well as the ACR Cares (Cradle) Orphanage in Burkina Faso, Africa. Today, my father and my hero, LC Meachum, finished the race and stepped into eternity. He is now with Jesus and no longer in pain. Dementia, pneumonia, and other complications had taken their toll on his 90 year old body. He fought an incredible fight, and even through his final moments here on earth, he taught me his last lesson: how to be “strong”. We will miss my dad more than words can express, but as followers of Jesus, we know we will see him again someday. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Matthew 25:23 "The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant"
