"In the heart of the neighborhood, where the streets narrow and the houses intertwine, a sinister atmosphere slowly settled in. It was a sweltering summer, the kind that seemed to make tempers flare and patience thin. The locals stayed cloistered in their homes, letting the streets burn in silence. One might think this was to escape the heat wave that swept over the city, but it was something much darker that kept them hiding behind their locked front doors." ... “A white house stood out among the other houses on the street. It caught the eye, as if hiding the reason behind its immaculate appearance. A very dark and dangerous house once stood in the middle of this carefully tended lawn. The terror it caused before was in direct contrast to the pretty white house that now was a beacon of hope and light....” Want to see how it ends? It is easy to take for granted the rest and peace we feel at night – unhindered by the safety we experience in our homes. Not all of our neighbors can say the same. Would you join us in praying Psalm 4:8 over our neighbors affected by a nearby drug house, that they too could find peace by dwelling in safety? #peace

It is #NationalGoodNeighborDay! 57% of Americans say they know only some or none of their neighbors, according to a Pew Research Center survey. That stat climbs up to 72% among 30- to 49-year-olds and 78% among 18- to 29-year-olds. Neighborhoods where neighbors know each other and are more connected have safer streets. There is a community built around knowing and caring for each other and investing in the place you all call home. So – do something neighborly today! Bring a neighbor those pumpkin muffins you wanted an excuse to make anyway. Offer to watch their home while they're traveling for upcoming holidays. Invite them over to watch your favorite college football team. You strengthen your neighborhood when you are a good neighbor – so be the first one to reach out! Let us know a favorite way you engage with your neighbors!
