Under the new trading book capital rules of FRTB IMA, portfolio diversification benefits are eliminated, leading to a significant increase in market risk capital requirements. According to recent research published in the Journal of Risk, these requirements under FRTB IMA are projected to be much higher than those initially estimated by the Basel Committee. The baseline scenario indicates a 78% rise in market risk capital requirements.
