The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) deadline is Jan. 1, 2025. Is your business ready to report its Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI)? If not, the time is now. Our corporate services attorneys Sean Buckley and Brian Smithweck discuss the fast approaching deadline and the steps that businesses need to take to comply with the new federal law. The CTA requires most businesses to report and e-file information about their owners and controllers to FinCEN at https://lnkd.in/e4zShHzk. Failure to comply may result in significant civil penalties of $500 per day (up to $10,000) and imprisonment for up to two years for willful violations. We are hearing a popular question from our clients - does my liquor license or beer permit include the sale of THC infused beverages? In a word, no. Your business needs an HDC retail license from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. #HDC is hemp-derived cannabinoids, which is #CBD and other hemp-derived #THC products that can legally be sold in #Tennessee. Do not mix THC beverages with #alcohol. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission has informally indicated that it takes no issue with restaurants and bars selling properly licensed legal THC products; however, mixing THC with alcohol could result in a citation.
