Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing

A Harvard University spin-off commercializing novel solid-state battery technology

About us

The problems posed by climate change need no introduction – it is one of the most pressing challenges of our era. Rapid development of clean energy storage technology is critical to combating this plague. In fact, electrification of the world’s vehicle fleet could alone cut global greenhouse gas emissions by a staggering 16%. Despite the huge commercial and environmental impact of electrification, many market segments remain unserved or under-served by current lithium-ion battery technology. Real, meaningful progress will require a new battery paradigm with charge times comparable to gasoline refueling times and cycle lifetimes that can sustain 20-years of operation. Adden Energy is scaling up a new type of solid-state battery, initially developed by a team of scientists at Harvard University, to commercially relevant cell sizes. With demonstrated charge times as low as 3 minutes and capacity retention for over 10,000 cycles in a lab-scale cells, Adden Energy’s scaling of this technology would contribute greatly to a cleaner future.
