  • Happy Labor Day! ✊🏾✊🏾 Today we celebrate your achievements, your hard work and determination in our fight for workers’ rights, and celebrate the wins of ancestors in the labor movement who have brought us here today. #Adhikaar is the country’s only women-led community and workers’ center organizing Nepali-speaking workers. We are proud to fight every day for justice and dignity for our people. In all of our work, we embrace a social justice vision bound in dignity and equity for all by centering immigrant workers - like our members and leaders who are domestic workers, nail salon workers, gas station, food delivery, restaurant workers, and more. Happy Labor Day to all!

  • Last week, we completed our annual staff retreat. We spent time together reflecting on our work and accomplishments while planning and strategizing for the new fiscal year. We are committed to working together to achieve Adhikaar's vision and mission—improving the lives of the Nepali-speaking community and making our voices heard in the social justice movement.

  • *ANNOUNCEMENT* We are pleased to introduce Cynthia Saxena as the new Co-Executive Director of Adhikaar for Human Rights and Social Justice to better serve our mission and the Nepali-speaking communities in New York, New Jersey, and beyond. Over the last several years, Adhikaar has experienced extraordinary growth. Our new Co-ED structure was designed to respond to our growing needs. Under this new leadership model, Narbada Chhetri will focus on Programs, and Cynthia will address Infrastructure. Cynthia has a robust background in fostering strategic partnerships, fundraising, and international relations. She has a proven track record of mobilizing resources and fostering growth for non-profits, small enterprises, and UN agencies. She has spent half her professional life working with large organizations and the other half with grassroots, on-the-ground NGOs. Previously, she managed the stewardship, cultivation, and activation of high-value global corporate partnerships with Fortune 500 companies, supporting fundraising efforts, organizational change management, and expanding strategic partnerships and community relations. We are confident that with Cynthia's leadership, alongside Narbada, Adhikaar will continue to thrive and achieve new heights. We look forward to your continued support and engagement as we embark on this exciting new chapter. Please join us in welcoming Cynthia Saxena to our team.

It helps our community members navigate and understand the complexities in the language they are comfortable in. ⚖️ Over the last weeks, Adhikaar has been organizing free legal clinics to help members file their TPS re-registration applications. With the help of volunteers, partner organizations, and law firms, we have been able to support over 145 members to date. ☎️ Call us at 718-937-1117 to schedule an appointment. 🔗 Fill out this form to view the required documents, and legal clinic info in other States: https://lnkd.in/eps9JuZT
