Evgenia Kara-Murza reflects on Vladimir's return home and joins fellow activist Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in calling for the release of ALL political prisoners. “We call on the international community: do not forget the political prisoners. Do not ease the pressure on their captors. Support the people of Belarus and Russia who continue to resist, who still dare to dream of a future free from dictatorship.”

The Biden administration’s plan to extend & entrench the 2024 asylum ban is an inhumane response to fearmongering. This harmful policy perpetuates xenophobia, denies people safety, and stains Biden's legacy. It’s time to prioritize real solutions, not barriers. “Doubling down on an inhumane policy that bans asylum is not the answer to orchestrated anti-immigrant fearmongering,” said Eleanor Acer, Senior Director for Refugee Protection at Human Rights First. “This policy bolsters xenophobic and racist rhetoric that falsely portrays immigrants as threats. It will also leave a permanent stain on President Biden’s legacy. Instead of playing politics with the lives of people seeking protection, the Biden administration should focus on urgently needed, real solutions, such as fixing the backlogs that undermine the effectiveness of our asylum system. The Biden administration should be eliminating, not expanding, barriers that deny people who are eligible for asylum a path to citizenship and family unity.” Read our full release: https://lnkd.in/eQ66zvPS
