WOOO... our community showed out in Chicago! 😻🎉 What an incredible night! ADPList Chicago Chapter's sold-out event brought together a room full of engaged minds eager to explore AI beyond the usual buzzwords on "Rethinking Work in the Age of AI – Beyond the Hype & Fear." A huge THANK YOU 🩵 to our incredible panelists Val Marchevsky, Kimetha Dunn, Matt Koscak, and Arjun Patel for their sharp insights, and to our brilliant moderator Alex N. coming up with bold, thought-provoking questions 💥 Key discussion points: 🔹 AI is no longer a distant future—it’s here, reshaping industries, redefining skills, and challenging us to adapt. 🔹 How AI is transforming the workforce—creating both opportunities and challenges. 🔹 AI in education and upskilling—changing how we learn, adapt, and stay ahead. 🔹 Why AI literacy is essential—understanding and embracing AI is key to staying competitive. 🔹 Human-AI collaboration—leveraging AI as a tool, rather than fearing its impact. 👏 Massive appreciation to the ADPList Chicago Chapter team — Mila Shumilina, Arzoo Mittal, Sanjana Shah, Aaron Montanez, Shuting Y., Onur Kocan, Ezeoma Nwaneri, MS, and Arjo Bhattacharya —for making this possible. 🙏 Special thanks to our sponsors Uber , Uber Freight , Hagia and Creathinks.ai for supporting this platform for real, unfiltered AI discussions. And thank YOU for being a part of this community. ❤️ See you at the next event! #OneADPList

  • Are most designs just "expensive trash?" 👀 Our design lead, Arpita Dhir, recently read Design for the Real World, written in 1971 (it still feels more relevant than ever). Victor Papanek didn’t just talk about design; he called out how bad design actively harms people and the planet. Here’s what stuck with Arpita ⬇️ 🔥 Design isn’t decoration; it’s problem-solving. If a product looks great but fails to meet real human needs, is it even “good” design? A beautifully designed chair that’s uncomfortable isn’t functional. 🌍 Sustainability isn’t a trend; it’s a responsibility. Decades before “eco-friendly” became a marketing buzzword, Papanek warned about the dangers of wasteful, disposable products. His question: Why are we designing things to be thrown away instead of lasting? 🙌 Good design serves people, not just profits. Designers are problem-solvers, but who are we solving problems for? Papanek challenged designers to think beyond corporate goals and create solutions that improve lives, especially for underserved communities. He believed that design should be ethical, inclusive, and deeply human-centered. His message? Design like you give a damn. "I can’t believe this book was written over 50 years ago. The world has changed, but these lessons still hit hard."- Arpita Dhir Designers, what do you think? #design #creativity #careers Credit: Arpita Dhir ❤️

  • 90% of designers are unhirable (by Matej Latin) ↴ 👉🏻 Most UX portfolios follow the same tired script: → Discovered a problem → Conducted user research → Created personas & wireframes → Designed a "perfect" prototype → Threw in a "design system" (aka a glorified style guide) Everything looks flawless—and that’s the problem. Design is messy. It’s full of wrong turns, tough decisions, and unexpected challenges. But when case studies erase those struggles, they lose credibility. What hiring managers actually want to see: ✅ How you adapted to roadblocks. ✅ The tough calls you had to make. ✅ How did you adjust and rethink your approach? ✅ What failed—and what you learned from it. These are the details that make your work compelling. Hiring managers don’t want to see perfection. They want to see how you think. 📌 How to Fix It? → Ditch the cookie-cutter format. Use storytelling to make your case studies engaging. → Show the messy middle—your struggles, iterations, and learnings. → Use the STAR framework to structure your case study. → Avoid jargon and overused buzzwords (Speak like a human, not a textbook). We’ve made it simple for you in our newsletter. 📌 Read the full breakdown here: https://lnkd.in/dPubEQSh Shoutout to Matej Latin again for guest contributing to this post. ♻️ Repost this with your network to help them!

  • Let’s be honest for a second. Imposter syndrome is snatching multiple opportunities from you. This is how you can beat it & change your life ↴ More than half of us are self-rejecting before we even give ourselves a chance. 👉🏻 But here’s the truth: Growth doesn’t come from doing what you’re already qualified for. It comes from stepping into roles that stretch you. 📌 The most successful people weren’t “qualified” when they started: ▻ Sheryl Sandberg had never led a team before joining Google. ▻ Richard Branson had zero airline experience before launching Virgin Atlantic. ▻ Oprah Winfrey was once told she wasn’t fit for television. So how to deal with imposter syndrome?? ✅ Stop talking negative to yourself! → Recognize your potential & how you’re always ready to learn & grow. ✅ Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable. → Growth lives outside your comfort zone. → The more you stretch, the more you grow. ✅ Be open to feedback! → Ask for feedback often. What worked or what went wrong? → You’ll understand how to improve. ✅ Life is more than just work! → Invest in areas that fulfill you → Pursue your passion & build meaningful relationships! Don’t let imposter syndrome take away opportunities from you! If they waited until they felt “ready,” they never would have taken the leap. ♻️ Repost if you agree & help someone grow. 📌 How do you deal with imposter syndrome?

  • 🚨 We present to you the most practical & straightforward framework for becoming a 10x designer with AI ↴ For years, we’ve heard about the 10x Engineer The rare individual who delivers outsized impact. But design is evolving, and AI is the catalyst. The 10x Designer isn’t just a concept. It’s already happening. → Here’s how to get there: ✅ Think it. Build it. → MVPs are no longer static mockups. AI tools like V0 and Replit let designers turn ideas into interactive prototypes instantly. ✅ Should Designers Code? No, they should prompt. → Understanding code is great, but AI-assisted coding tools make it possible to build without deep programming knowledge. ✅ Scale Your Process. Scale Yourself. → AI streamlines research, prototyping, and iteration, allowing designers to focus on strategy and high-impact work. ✅ The New Economy → AI is unlocking fresh revenue streams—think AI-generated assets, custom plugins, and AI-powered design services. ✅ From Operator to Orchestrator → The designer’s role is shifting from manual execution to guiding AI-driven systems and shaping the future of design strategy. The future of design isn’t just about tools. It’s about leveraging AI to work smarter, move faster, and create better. We’ve made it simple for you in our newsletter. 📌 Read the full breakdown here: https://lnkd.in/dtiUbiDy ♻️ Repost this with your network to help them grow! What’s your take on the 10x Designer? Is AI making the design more powerful or more complicated?
